Lindsay
We had a Fabulous 3 night stay over new year. Amazing location and views. We had everything we needed. We were there as 2 families, 4 adults and 4 children, 2 nearly 13 year olds, 10 year old and an 8 year old. We would definitely stay again. Also We booked a meal in the pub down the road the Gazelle and the food was gorgeous
Lovely house, thoroughly enjoyed the stay. I wasn't worried about the road to the house being a confident driver, but we found it very difficult. We travelled with two other families and all three divers found it impossible to get to them car park at the top so could only park outside the home which took a bit of jiggling to get three large cars parked there. Has everything you need for a pleasant stay, beds were comfy enough. Although clean throughout, there were so many cobwebs and looked like it could do with a good dust. And little things like lots of the blinds wouldn't open so you couldn't enjoy the view from everyone's rooms, the shower not having a door meant a wet bathroom etc. But, we would stay again and thought the house was in such a great position. We had a small problem which was rectified almost immediately, which we appreciated.

The WiFi was not working on arrival, called the maintance number in the book, took a number of calls to receive a call back. Told its a regional issue due to the weather. We had no WiFi the whole stay, which in turn meant no tv. We had 2 x 17 years old, 1 x 10 year old, 1 x 3 year old, and 6 adults, who this affected all week. On arrival, there were dirty glasses in the living room. The bunk beds were unsteady. The top bunk wasn't able to be used to sleep on, we had to move the mattress to the floor. The conservatory roof leaked. The house needed a good deep clean. There were dead flies in the wardrobes upstairs. There was a broken free standing mirror, unsafe with little ones about and broken blinds in the back bedroom. The ample parking as described is accurate, getting to the parking area, requires an experienced, confident driver, it is so steep, uneven and full of loose stones, that we struggled getting all of our cars up there, one being a long car, another a low down car. It's only suitable for 4x4 cars without causing damage to your car, it caused anxiety as its so steep, with near sheer drops around it. You can see that building work has been carried out, the kitchen is very nice, the bathroom is lovely. The storage in the house was full of building tools, bags of open plaster along side a highchair and hoover, all of which looked as if it had been thrown in and rammed shut. This was the cupboard in the hallway and the ultity room. There was an abandoned fridge freezer by the back door. We couldn't open the wine fridge, the tumble drier come on, but doesn't dry clothes, takes hours to dry and even then had to go on the radiator. The house itself had beautiful views, it could be a stunning house if it was giving some serious TLC and a deep clean.
Alexandra
A wonderful property with a spectacular view. The house was very comfortable and well maintained. Hot tub was ready to go for us when we arrived and we made great use while we were there. The conservatory area was a great sun trap and lovely when the day was a little cooler at the start and end of the day. The kitchen has been updated to a modern classy black and white which is not reflected online in the pictures where the old kitchen is still in place. A lovely place to stay with the family in a great location.
Claire
We really enjoyed our Stay at AFALLON. The property was clean and comfortable , the views over the Menai Straights are just breathtaking. This was a fantastic place to stay for Christmas the whole family got together and had a great time. We cant wait to go back !
Rebecca
Lovely house, only issues was that I think it could do with a deep clean, for example window sills, inside cupboards, ceiling and corners needed dusting. Love the decor and furniture and the conservatory view is stunning. The cover to the hot tub was broken and there was lots of debris in the tub itself so didnt look like it had been cleaned but it maybe that debris had got through the broken part of the cover. I think a new cover may have been delivered while we were there so hopefully this is now sorted

This is a beautiful home to stay in with amazing views. We had a lovely and peaceful time. The only issue we had was with the bathroom door that seriously needs looking at. Theres only one bathroom apart from a small WC downstairs and with 10 people staying., people are in and out of the bathroom until the early hours of the morning. You have to push the bathroom door to go in and then the lock makes so much noise. You cannot go to the toilet without everyone else knowing about it, if you want privacy . Its very very loud to shut that door. Apart from that the house was beautiful. Yes there were loads of webs but not many spiders thankfully !!! We loved Affalon and would love to stay again but hopefully with a quieter bathroom door !!
Afallon delivered the wonderful views that attracted us to it in the first place. There is plenty of space to spread out within the property, but we spent 90 of our time in the conservatory with the doors wide open taking in the views. The hot tub was a great addition and added to the house's collection of TV's, games machines and board games etc. The walk into the small town is closer to 50 minutes but it has all the basic shops you would need, along with some cracking little cafe's all with superb service. We also took advantage to RibRide with a 1 12hour trip out to puffin island. They offer various packages, but they are highly recommended but take your own wet weather jacket just in case. Beaumaris is a short drive up the other way along the coast and has a far greater selection of shops, cafe's etc. plus, the historic court rooms, jail and castle. It's a lovely place but the seagulls are like 'Special Forces' who can steal your food ice creams included from you in the blink of an eye bless em! They had me in stitches watching them attack my daughters ice cream cone. The house boasts some lovely garden areas, with some additional seating areas. Note that, like all places based in rural locations, there will be a fair number of flies etc. We were never bothered by them at all, but they do like to collect in the conservatory, but they can soon be evicted and they never made it further into the house andor bothered with any food we had prepared. Note that the drive can look daunting to some but it's easily accessible if you take it sensibly, with plenty of parking spaces over two levels. The only error we made was that we only booked it for a week, it takes a week just to unwind and start to relax. It's a place where we would consider coming back to in the future as we've been visiting North Wales and Anglesey for over 20 years as there is so much to do. It's a stunningly beautiful location.
Andrew
This a lovely place just to bring your family, kick off your shoes and relax. It's a stunning view with amazing places to visit nearby. Good local shops and supermarkets too with friendly people. When we arrived we could not work the main oven. We rang the agent who was looking after it and they sorted it. It needed a new knob and was there the next morning. We will be definitely be coming back to the area. What a stunning place!
Alison
Loved this property so much . It was ideal for our family of 6 adults , a 3 year old and 2 x 9 month old babys and 2 dogs . Obviously the 3 year old had to escorted in the garden as very steep. But he was more than happy to play in the house as plenty of room to run around downstairs . The dr
The house has the most amazing views of the Menai Straits and is perfect for a large family as there are lots of rooms downstairs. We have had a lovely relaxing week at New Year. It could have been improved by better mattresses on the double beds.
The toilet seat fell off every time it was used it is poor quality and dangerous. When arriving we needed to let the dog into the garden it was dark and I opened the patio doors which had a sofa infront of the left door which hid the warning sign of a sheer drop thank god the dog went out before I did as he dropped a good 6ft into bushes beneath the patio doors it could have been far worse if I had stepped out! I held onto the lead as he dangled be north until my husband ran in to rescue him! Yes it does state in the manual that its a sheer drop but when you first arrive in the dark its stupid to put a sofa infront if the warning sign at the bottom of the glass door! This is sold as a premium property the cottage is lovely but it needs a bit of TLC to fix the drips in the conservatory and the dodgy toilet seat. And the driveway up needs to have the leaves removed as thy make it slippy under the car making parking stressful as the car slid on the leaves.
Lovely stay just wanted to say the toilet seat upstairs kept coming off but we left it back on and the Hot tub lid was open on one side when we arrived so were too many leaves in there to comfortably use it. We also smashed the bumper on our van as we got stuck on the drive. Im a holiday let owner myself so saying these as feedback to assist. Looking at previous reviews its probably worth addressing the parking. Lovely character family house, thankyou for sharing it.
Kirsty
Delightful house with incredible views of the Menai Straits looking over to Snowdonia. Well equipped throughout. Comfortable beds in well proportioned rooms. Spacious family bathroom with abundance of hot water and additional toilet downstairs. Kitchen also a good size with plenty of crockery glassware etc and double oven, slow cooker. Separate utility with washer and dryer. Be aware that young children will need to be closely watched. The house is on a steep slope and therefore the gardens are accessed by some steep steps from the terrace. The driveway also has a couple of hairpin bends off the main road which are manageable with care even in a large car. We had a 7 seater people carrier that was fine. The hot tub is well maintained and fantastic to relax in and enjoy the view. A memorable place to stay.
Sarah-jane
This was a great house and we had a fantastic week. Lots of space for a family of five children with three teenagers. I was disappointed that the garden is not direct beach access as stated it would be better to take this out of the write up. The driveway was a nightmare with two cars, I would hate to be there with anymore or in fact in the winter months. That's the only thing that would make me not book again.
Andrea
Incredible & amazing. As many will and have said, the views are incredible. We were lucky, weather wise, in July to have an amazing week here. The house was well equipped and we managed the 5 of us with only 1 bathroom so don't let 1 bathroom put you off booking this fabulous spot. The driveway and parking was a little alarming at first given the 2 sports cars we brought but I feel this is covered in previous feedback. I would, if you don't know the area, read the owners book provided as we found Newborough beach through that and spent most days on the beach with the dog. When we were in the house, we spent most of the time sitting in the conservatory with a glass of wine and watching the world go by. Would definitely recommend 1010.
Samantha
The photos do not do this property justice, it is breathtaking! We were a group of 10 and had everything you could want and need, and everyone commented on how comfy the beds were. However, something needs to be done about the driveway. It is dangerous and needs bollards along the sides up the very steep hill. It could probably do with resurfacing as the final bend at the top of the drive by the property has a big chunk missing and it could do with mirrors adding to the entrance of the driveway or across the road. One guest we had with us got stuck on the final bend at the top of the house and needed a recovery vehicle to come and winch them off which was not the start we wanted to our break as it was incredibly stressful! Then when we came to leave after a night of rain it was incredibly slippy and caused serious anxiety for everyone driving the cars off which is not what you want after a lovely relaxing break. If something is done about the driveway, it really is the perfect property.
The property is fantastic in all ways. We had a group of 9 and there was plenty of space downstairs, with room for relaxing and dining together. Bedrooms were really comfortable with fantastic views across Menai from 3 of the bedrooms, the conservatory, living area and the patiohot tub area. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to visit Anglesey and North Wales a sure fire 5 star stay!
Include in the directions to the property the hairpin bends driving up to the house and limited parking
Rachel
House was beautiful, kitchen slightly worn, but thats understandable. Two complaints, there were lots of spiders, my son is terrified. His bedroom was worse!! These spiders should be removed when cleaning. These are not. There was lots of cobwebs, the cleaner clearly likes spiders as the house was covered. We appreciate its rural, but we live rurally too and we clean our home, so no spiders reside. Needs a good clean!! Secondly, bin the games, these are incomplete and broken. Its frustrating when your kids want to play game of life, and there are missing pieces. All games were unfit and unusable. Even the PlayStation!! It was a joke tbh especially for 600 a night!!!
Charlotte
Firstly thank you so very much for allowing us to use your beautiful home. Waking up to the most spectacular views, the use of the beautiful hot tub and the house was so well presented and comfortable. To name a few there were lots of welcomed extras as well, cook books, music system, PlayStation, Netflixs, crabbing lines, bucket and spades and toys for the kids. We forget teabags but found a bowl full lifesaver and even dishwasher tablets, every little detail has been thought about. Bedsbedrooms were extremely comfortable and the fact our lovely cockapoo was welcome was the icing on the cake. He adored the garden and loved roaming around. The only downside was it wasnt long enough a stay, our children were really sad to leave and we were too. 5 stars to Afallon and we would recommend to all friends and family.
Stayed for a week with my family and dog at this wonderful house. It's very peaceful and has amazing views. It's a great base for a stay on Anglesey.
Oliver
Wow!!! What a week we had at Afallon! I honestly believe the photos dont do this place justice! It is even better in person!!! Unreal views and an unreal house. My family and I will 100 be back again in the future. Pubs and beach a short walk away and cute villages a short drive away. Thank you to the owner for making us feel so welcome.
Fantastic house which was warm and welcoming when we arrived. The weekend was lovely. The only negatives were that the wifi was pretty patchy and the driveway was quite steep. When I rang a taxi for the following day they refused to come up to the drive and didn't offer any alternative. We ended up driving, which wasn't part of the plan but we were soon back at the house for the rest of the evening. We didn't drink the wine left by the guest or the Bara Brith as we bought so much food we had tons to take away. A lovely gesture though
Ingrid
The cottage was lovely but as per my complaint, that was closed without being dealt with, the hot tub wasnt warm enough to be able to use it on the Friday night. This isnt acceptable when paying a premium for a cottage with a hot tub but only being able to use it one night out of the two night stay.
We enjoyed the holiday home, the views were amazing and all rooms beautifully decorated. The minor issues we had were dealt with by the property managers and host in a very polite and friendly manner. They requested feedback and seem to sincerely care about providing a nice holiday home for their guests. The area was also great with lots of things to do. All in all a great holiday.
Matthew
The cleanliness of the place could be better, it wasn't unclean by any means, but for the price you pay it was expected to be cleaner. There are also a few areas which could be improved or included such as the back door being slightly out of line and the kitchen was lacking in the basics such as oils to cook. There is also no supply of charcoal or wood for the fire. Again, not a big issue, but you just feel it is lacking for the price you pay. All in all a lovely stay, and the views and location are great though, just needs a few finer details and attention to detail.
Catherine
We loved the place! The only thing I would say is that for a British holiday a tumble dryer would have been useful. We didnt find a washing line but thats not to say there wasnt one but it made drying clothes more difficult. There are probably a few areas that need some attention, like the conservatory door and the back door which have seen better days but it didnt detract from our holiday and I would certainly recommend the place.
Views across the Menai Straits are amazing, from nearly every room. Lovely holiday home. Well equipped house with large table that seats ten, nice decor throughout. Kids loved the hot tub. Would definitely recommend. Gazelle Hotel was great too and very close.
Booking the property was easy but staff did not have good knowledge about the property when I called to check details The property is really lovely and very comfortable but it does not sleep 10 adults there are 2 doubles, 1 twin & 1 larger than a single size bunk bed. Amazing view and lovely space to spend time together relaxing All the rooms are a good size and very comfortable The hot tub was a bonus that we all enjoyed Local pub the Gazelle was an easy walk with great food and service we would visit again but just with 8 people
The location is great and the view is amazing and we spent all our time in the conservatory. The house is well appointed, however for the cost of the accommodation we felt that there should have been a tumble dryer, more equipment in the kitchen and at least basic condiments such as salt and pepper. The cleanliness was not up to standard, lots of dust under the furniture, the conservatory needed a deep clean as the windows and framed were very dirty. The wardrobes and draws in the front bedrooms were dirty and dusty so that you could not unpack your clothes. The double bunk beds were very squeaky and the top frame was dirty. One bathroom is also difficult when you have a large family staying, I think that the description states up to 10 people.
Louise
Beautiful house and views. One thing to be mindful of is the fact the garden is not dog secure so dogs can easily run into woods or down drive onto road.
Samantha
Amazing. The view alone is worth it
