The Chestnuts Reviews

Suzanne
Great weekend away for a family gathering of multigenerations. Property as describedpictured, in beautiful surroundings, lovely and welcoming. Kitchen well stocked to cater for larger groups, sufficient bed options and seating inside in both kitchen and sitting room, along with numerous bathrooms. Great weekend away, thank you.
Cannot recommend The Chestnuts highly enough. Had a fantastic week 6 adults and four children under 11 to celebrate my 70th birthday. The garden was excellent for football, cricket all sorts of fun and games and we all made the most of the hot tub and BBQ area. Inside was roomy and comfortable with plenty of toilet and shower facilities and large kitchen with a dining table easily big enough for 10 people. Outside the views were stunning and watching the spectacular sunsets was a nice end to the day. At the end of the week my Grandaughter asked if we could come again for my 71st, not a bad idea actually.
Richard
What a lovley cottage the views were great and if you want quiet then this is the place for you. The cottage was more than what we expected it has a washing machine but could do with a tumble dryer. Tenbury wells has a tesco so it is close for shopping also would recomend tenbury fish and chips shop. The hot tub was great there were 11 of us and there was enough room for all of us. The garden was great for the greatgrand children to play and ride there bikes. Any problems the owners Michele and Roger and there son Will were on hand to help.
Peaceful location, fabulous views, spacious property ideal for 6 adults and 4 children under 13 and a dog, excellent hot tub, ideally situated for visiting National Trust, English Heritage sites, Worcester and the West Midlands Safari Park.
Yvonne
The Chestnuts is a beautiful house equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing weekend away. The owners were very helpful and addressed our needs promptly, even on a Sunday morning. Would definitely recommend and hope to rebook for next year.
Rachel
We had a wonderful stay at The Chestnuts, so much so we have booked again. The property is well equipped with an American fridge freezer and separate wine fridge and all the crockery, utentils and pots and pans you need when cooking for a large group. It was a joy cooking on an Aga for the first time there is an Aga cookbook provided which made it easy for a novice and the Aga includes an electric hoboven module too. The layout worked brilliantly for our multi generational family gathering with a downstairs bedroom and family rooms. With four bathrooms including one downstairs there were never any queues for the bathroom. The large lawn was perfect for the kids to play on and we enjoyed morning coffee and breakfast on the terrace as well as the hot tub. Open access to the surrounding farmland meant there was plenty for the kids to explore from the doorstep.
We had a nice stay, thanks for having us. Good views, peaceful location and I imagine in the Summer its very nice in the garden. Lots of easy parking. Useful having double beds that split into singles but they are tiny singles, a few of us virtually fell out whilst sleeping! But good size bedrooms and decent bathrooms with powerful showers. Nice to have phone signal and decent wifi despite being out in the country. Did'nt find we were missing anything in the kitchen which is a nice change for a holiday home! and plenty of fridgefreezer space. As a word of warning there is an aga to cook on which is usually something we avoid as they are so awkward to use properly. We just used the little oven next to it instead and ate out. We were only there for 2 nights so it was a shame the hot tub was'nt warm enough to use on the 1st night. But it was good on the 2nd evening.

Fabulous holiday in wonderful surroundings with glorious views. Arriving on the 23rd December we went into the stay feeling very relaxed and that feeling never changed. The farmhouse had absolutely everything we needed and after having a very helpful chat with Michelle the owner about the Aga I felt very confident in preparing our Christmas meals on it and they were all lovely!. A really wonderful family Christmas that everyone will remember for a long time. The support from Michelle before and during our stay was fantastic and I was grateful for it. The hot tub for our grandsons 8th birthday on Christmas Eve was a hit and was used throughout the stay despite the cold.
This is an amazing house, beautiful and so spacious. There is everything you could wish for in the kitchen and is excellent for large gatherings with plenty of seating in the lounge. The views are stunning and its only a few miles from some excellent pubs. I would definitely recommend this house to all my friends and family and would love to return.
We returned to the Chestnuts and loved the house just as much as last year. It is utterly charming and works brilliantly for our group of 8 ladies of a certain age because we all get our own bed which seems all to be very comfortable, there are plenty of bathrooms, the kitchen is lovely, warm and sociable and we all fit very comfortably into the lounge. Only downsides for us are a lack of casserole dishes I remembered this year to bring a couple of pyrex ones, a temperamental TV handset and maybe some hooks on the bathroom doors for dressing gowns but that's being picky. The hot tub is a new welcome addition which we did use. Yes the carpets, and some of the furniture, are worn, but it was immaculately clean and that adds to the charm for us. It remains our favourite place for our girls' weekends. Oh and by the way, shopping in Ludlow is great and we booked lunch at Kin and would recommend.
Frances
We had a wonderful time. The property was well equipped and clean. The owners were very contactable and super helpful. We'd love to stay again!
Rachael
Three families came together at this wonderful location which was incredibly comfortable for our six adults and three dogs. We thoroughly enjoyed the large kitchen and the living room for coming together and all the beds were very comfortable. The hot tub was a lovely added bonus and well used by us! Would definitely recommend the property for large parties.
What a lovely place. Huge rooms comfy beds, amazing views. No criticisms just a lovely stay which I would thoroughly recommend. My personal highlight was seeing a spectacular range of birds whilst we were in the hot tub.

The property is located with beautiful views and is well proportioned It is ... The property is located with beautiful views and is well proportioned It is well equipped and has a very good hot tub It is an old house and has charm and character , however it is a little dated in terms of carpets and some furniture, Overall we have enjoyed our stay
The Chestnuts was a fabulous home from home and provided us with everything we needed for our 3 family getogether. It was very comfortable and spacious with a brilliant lounge area with cosy fire. The house was very dog friendly. Hot water aplenty and everything to keep the adults and teenagers happy. I strongly recommend.
Alistair
We really loved the house and enjoyed our visit to the area. The kitchen is a joy to cook in, the Aga made cooking Christmas dinner interesting, and the couch in the kitchen turns out to be a wonderful innovation that we want to do at our own home now! The living room is fabulously large and comfortable. Unlike many places that feel like they've shoehorned cheap furniture into too small a space, in this farm house all rooms are very spacious and appropriately furnished. I've never had a rental before where every chair and bed was comfortable! This place has character, everyone loved it, so we highly recommend it.
We always enjoy our stays at The Chestnuts, we have stayed several times now. It is great for large groups and is in an outstanding quiet location. Tenbury is just a few minutes down the road which is handy for shops and restaurants. We've always found the owners helpful.
We had a great weekend. Wonderful views. Comfy beds. We had a lovely welcome of juice, milk and tasty snacks. There were plenty of loo rolls, tea towels and anything we might need. Slow cooked a chicken casserole all day in the Aga amazing flavour. Very clean. Cosy fire with plenty of firewood for the evenings. Highly recommended.
Fabulously comfortable and warm beds, all big rooms, plenty of bathrooms for 7 mature women and warm. We will return. Could have done with some pyrex casserole dishes for the Aga ovens and hooks on the back of doors for dressing gowns etc, but otherwise very well equipped.
Antony
Everything about the property filled your accurate description. The Chestnuts is an enchanting and beautifully situated converted stable. I would highly recommended this to other people.
T Stephen
The house is beautiful and I think there is space to provide a bathshower room for each bedroom.
Richard
Excellent accomodation and perfect for a large group. Lots of room, very well equipped and owners were superhelpful. The only letdown was the walking in the area as a number of paths were so poorly maintained as to be almost impassable! The nearby towns, Tenbury Wells and Ludlow, were lovely and had excellent pubs, cafes and shops.
Steven
Lovely property in beautiful part of the countryside, but would've benefitted from the following improvements 1 a washing line the garden is penty big enough! 2 a hose pipe for washing off the dogs after walks 3 blinds in the kitchen windows the sun streams in through there at mealtimes and also in the skylight in the bedroom above the kitchen as it was very light in that room at the time we put the kids to bed, which kept them awake.
Ingrid
Wonderful amount of space huge rooms. Plenty of space to have all the people comfortably in each room. Wonderful views. The gardens are now no longer secure so containing dogs children in the warmer months could be an issue when outside doors are open but for us this week it was manageable. There are 3 large properties on site and one of our dogs did go to visit the dog at the large house. The fields around the house are great for early dog exercise hidden pheasants!!!! Well equipped with a lovely welcome package and very helpful hosts. The only reason we didnt give a 4 for comfort was that the beds we used were all a little too soft. Well situated for great days out. The 6 of us and 3 dogs thoroughly enjoyed our week at Chestnuts and we would recommend this house for a large group who wanted to spend time together.
F Charles
We had a great time and will be returning.
Chandulal
We have just returned from a fabulous stay at The Chestnuts. The house is beautiful and very well cared for by the owners. The location and views are spectacular. Michelle was extremely friendly and helpful. The welcome treats were a lovely touch, the Victoria sponge cake was the best I have ever tasted! Thank you. We would definitely recommend and hope to revisit one day.
It was a lovely time but with 2 issues. Firstly, TV the Freeview signal was either very poor or not existing, and we had to resort to viewing through a laptop. Secondly, noise both floors and partitions provided little insulation, and every noise or footstep could be heard elsewhere. The creaking floors were a particular problem. On the other hand, the layout of the property was lovely, with a nice living room with comfy sofas around the fireplace, and a great kitchendining area with a large table.
F Charles
We enjoyed our stay but there were some issues. The kitchendining room windows need blinds or curtains for privacy and because the morning sun shines into the eyes of diners. The french doors by the bottom of the stairs need locks or bolts to secure them. They blew open and we had to wedge the wheely big against them. There is NO can opener. Some of the lights are not working. The fridge is inconvenient in the store room. However, the new bigger beds, the wine cooler, the new electric cooker to compliment the Arga, and the enhanced kitchen cupboards and work surfaces are all good.
The property is stunning and Michelle was lovely we had a great weekend.
Trevor
Spacious, warm, comfy. Friendly host and delicious arrival gifts. Great area to explore.
Lesley
The property was perfect for a family holiday we had 9 adults, 3 babies and 2 dogs. Michelle arranged extra high chairs and cots for us. The views were amazing and the property was very well equipped. The only reason we didnt give 5 stars for accuracy of listing was that we all thought we read that the garden was enclosed and it wasn't completely enclosed. But a perfect place to stay
Shirley
Fantastic property in an excellent location. Friendly and helpful owners.
The property was fantastic and exactly what we needed! We were able to stay with such ease and you were really welcoming to us the cake was incredible! It was easy enough to find and in the perfect location for what we were looking for so thanks again.
Hosts were very welcoming and chatty. We appreciated the goodies they left. The house is very spacious and characterful. It suited our family 7 adults and two children brilliantly. Very well equipped for a large group. Bedrooms were a very good size and the bathroom situation was more than adequate. The sloping floors were a little disconcerting to begin with but added to the propertys quirkiness. One tiny gripe was that the floorboards creaked and this woke the baby and toddler on a couple of occasions and the whole household early one morning! The garden was great for games and sitting out. Incredible views from most rooms. In short, we loved our stay and would definitely recommend the house.
A lovely property, full of character and as described. Our threegenerational extended family had a wonderful time.
A lovely house , beautiful views, the washing machine broke when we were there the owners bought a new one the next day, always on hand when needed very friendly, you need a car if you stay here. Some rooms had no wardrobe or any where to put clothes, wasnt a problem as just kept clothes in suitcase, relaxing holiday definitely recommended by us all thanks Michelle
We have a wonderful week at The Chestnuts. We were celebrating my husband's 70th birthday and were able to invite people to come and stay with us and hold a couple gettogethers with friends and family living nearby. The accommodation is fabulous, wellappointed rooms with everything provided, a big kitchen and a lovely big lawn for children and adults to run around in. The views at the front of the property are stunning!
Stuart
Property was great for the family gathering with plenty of social space in lounge and kitchen, as well as good sized bedrooms and plenty of bathrooms. The Garden was great to play in with kids young and old and lovely views outside. Kitchen chairs were the only slight worry as a lot felt wobbly when sat on, so would benefit from repair or replacement.
We had a wonderful family break at The Chestnuts. There were 7 adults, 2 children and 2 large dogs and the accommodation was perfect for us. We loved that the heart of the house, the kitchen, was spacious with a huge dining table and a sofa so we could all socialise in there comfortably. The house contained everything we needed and more. The beds we comfy. The Family bedroom was great for people who like to have their young children close whilst staying somewhere so spacious and unfamiliar. The garden was fantastic for family games and the dogs loved having lots of space to run around. There is a public footpath with a lovely walk right on the doorstep which was also great. We will definitely be recommending and rebooking.
We had a fantastic holiday. We had a great chat with the owners before we arrived to ensure the set up would accomodate our group. When we arrived we had a lovely welcome basket, which went down a treat after a long drive. All requests we had for the owners were allowedfulfilled and it made our stay really enjoyable. The space is amazing. We had 4 children ranging from 28 and the garden was safe, secure and meant they didnt get bored. I did think the quiet location would mean we would have to entertain them, but the grounds, local walks etc were great. The kitchen is really well stocked. I brought the kitchen utensils I cant live without but there was no need there was everything. We did a family murder mystery night in the kitchen and it was brill as it was such a sociable area. Nice to walk around the village a short drive away, chipshop and tesco within driving distance 10 mins and also in a location we could get a good shop delivered for our arrival date. It was just fab and hope to return soon.
