Cedar Cabin Reviews

The Cabin was really good, I have recommended it to some of my friends. It was very clean and bedding and towels were provided. There was everything you need for the stay, from washing up liquid to plenty of toilet rolls. I did find a few little things that needed repair, but none of these stopped us from having an extremely relaxing time. We all enjoyed the hot tub as my wife was it there everyday. The fishing was OK,unfortunately we didn't catch this time. Overall the place was great, the location was just right, I would recommend it to anyone. We're hoping to book both cabins and pods next year, for us and family and friends. It's definitely a great place to stay and chill.
We had a lovely stay at cedar cabin, the cabin is in a great location very private with plenty of outdoor seating and the hot tub was amazing! included fresh clean bedding plenty of towels and all the crockery you need as well as tea coffee and sugar! Along with a large gas BBQ we made use of. Owners are lovely and friendly and very approachable, if you have any issues they are happy to help! You have to be patient with the fishing we started to catch after a couple of days, had a relaxing break and reasonably priced no extra charges for dogs etc which is great we will certainly return in the future, thank you all for a lovely break

Having booked the holiday to share my 71st birthday week with my family. We were extremely happy with the accommodation and the level of kitchen equipment for us to use. The fishing was excellent and my daughters partner caught two amazing carp. We all had a fabulous time on the deck in the hot tub and gas BBQ was first class. The cabin was beautiful and warm and central heating and log burner were excellent especially with the cooler nights and early mornings. It was a most enjoyable stay with some lovely walks around the area. We are planning to book it again next year.
Stephen
Accommodation was great the fishing is absolutely diabolical. There was one small carp caught over the 4 lodges in 3 days with hundreds of geese fighting all day long. Do not go for the fishing like I did, never again.
We booked a week for my partners 60th birthday, cedar cabin was just perfect. We never wanted to go fishing, but went for relaxation. The facilities were perfect, the hot tub and outside seating was enjoyed. It is on our revisit list.
The lodge and surroundings are beautiful, We came here for a fishing trip, storm Dave wasn't in our favour for our weekend. The new fish had recently been delivered, that being said once the wind lifted we were luckily to catch a few beautiful big fish! We hope to be back next May when the lakes fully stocked See you then!
We loved our stay at the cabin great location for a peaceful weekend and the hot tub excellent and a highlight for us! and decking was lovely and spacious, despite the weather we did manage to enjoy a bit of outdoors. views of the lake were very peaceful and calming. We loved being able to have the log burner lit especially on the cooler evening and the whole vibe of the cabin was comfy and cosy. Location wise the pubs are nearby and really lovely and the shop is super handy too. A couple of bits of feedback we feel we should mention but that didn't impact our experience, merely for future improvements It is probably worth noting that the driveway and track are quite rustic with potholes and uneven surface that lead to the property it would have been good to know this previouslyon the listing due to the type of vehicle I personally drive. The kitchen could do with a coffee cafetiere and there was no hair dryer in the property which would have been useful. The hot tub lid didn't have the supporting arm on it which made it quite difficult to put back on we managed between us! Overall a really positive stay!
The mattresses were very worn and for 2 nights my husband slept upright in the living room, as the mattress was extremely soft and dipped in the middle, this caused him back pain. Please could you add a small lamp to the living area to make the light less harsh. We left out a baking tray as it was losing its coating. Overall we did love the cabin and it was our second visit the setting is perfect, the hot tub was an added bonus. Thank you.
Amazing, picturesque! Such a shame we only had one night, we will definitely be back. Very peaceful! Fully equipped with everything you could need. We really could not fault. Everything was perfect we highly highly recommend to anyone!!
Jeremy
Lovely and cosy cabin with everything you need to cook. Good quality beds, good shower flow, many towels, free coffee, sugar and tea. The log burner and jacuzzi are great. The area is very nice for walks in the fields and for dogs. Only negative points the sheep free roaming around the cabin and bleating in the early morning by the bedroom window and the rather bad TV reception.
Really really lovely. Just what I needed. Good for the soul

Very comfortable, quiet and relaxing! The cabin was spacious and the stay was relaxing.

VeryPoor customer service Firstly we booked a holiday to a lovely cabin with fishing. We were so looking forward to a relaxing holiday fishing and watching the world pass by. The day after we booked the holiday we were informed by the owner he had no fish and advised us to cancel the holiday. So on the 16th September we went on line to try and cancel but it said we would get no refund. So we went on to there enquiry page and then on to there whatsap page and explained everything, and that the owner had said cancel the holiday and request the refund. On the 17th we had a message saying it was being passed over to another department, Our departure day 21st September came and we still heard nothing from Sykes, so it left us no choice but to go. And yes, no fish. We then spent the 22nd and 23rd travelling around the surrounding area looking for fisheries which were open, had fish and allow dogs, but we could not find anywhere to go. On the evening of the 23rd at 1010 we finally had a reply, saying that since it had been more than 24hrs since we contacted them they would cancel unless we got back to them with a yes!! so again I wrote a message, with all the details and requested a refund. Then on the Wednesday 24th two more messages were sent. Also, several phone calls were attempted with no answer. so in the end we packed up on the 24th and went home. Once home I made several attempts at calling and managed to get through. I went through everything over again, and said I was also disappointed with the customer service, only to be told that they were good at customer service and were very busy and if we compared with other companies they give good service. As I too have worked in customer service and for an international company I told them that there service was dire, this is not how you treat a customer especially when there is a complaint being made and would advise other people not to use there company. So if you read this don't use Skyes Cottages if you want good service and a prompt reply when things go wrong.

Window blinds need replacing outside windows all dirty
Lovely lodge and facilities! Excellent fishing spot and we did catch a great big carp which was lovely. Definitely recommend
Michael
Lovely cabin Great surroundings and views. Hot tub was a great addition Definitely would book again
Suzanne
A lovely peaceful setting around a lake with only 3 other cabinspods. A short walk to the local pub although this was quite boggy due to the time of year. The hot tub was only partly working and as it was over christmas, this couldn't be fixed. We also lost water pressure the first day that we were there but this was quickly fixed by the 'farmer'. Would be lovely in the summer when it's arm enough to sit out on the decking. Alovely warm cabin in the winter.

Great stay if you want a bit of privacy
Fantastic location, The owners were very helpful and attentive. Overall great experience
No teapot or French Press, it was a middle class nightmare
Thelma
What a wonderful retreat this place is to recharge your batteries. Surrounded by wild life on the lake sheep in the surrounding fields. Watching the sun go down over the lake from the deck. Life couldnt get much better than this.
Sandra
Owner of the property is a very helpful and answered all the questions. Thank you Our holiday home was great we would definitely stay again.
Caroline
Our happy place, 3rd time staying in cedar lodge and not the last, hubby loves fishing so ideal for us to chill and I love the hot tub so both happy. Watching the sheep and wildlife from the decking is so peaceful we switch completely off from everyday life. The cabin is very well equipped and spotlessly clean, can't wait to return.
We really enjoyed the cabin and it suited our needs well, especially as it allowed my 86 year old father to enjoy fishing. Some of the fittings were of poor quality and loosefaulty bathroom door lockshower door. It would also have been good to have an electric kettle, rather than a traditional one which sits on the gas hob, and an electric toaster. I suspect these omissions were due to limited electric supply capacity in the cabins. Perhaps a small, lowerpower, hotelstyle kettle could be provided to allow enough water to make tea to be boiled as the hob kettle took a very long time to boil.

Wow, what an experience. ! This place was stunning, the log cabin is beautiful, felt so homely and cosy. We made some awesome memories, fishing, hot tubs, bbqs, but most importantly, quality family time. Definitely a place to go back to.. a home away from home.
Just so peaceful. Beautiful walks to the New Inn pub. So many walks actually. Working Farm so nice to be amongst animals. The cabin itself was clean, spacious with the sit outside area overlooking the lake, absolutely lovely. Would definitely go back. Thanks Andy Paul and Duncan.
Just like the picture which was perfect. Never felt so at with nature and every morning brought something different. Other groups were present during our stay but couldnt hear much from them which was as perfect. Though the experience was top, there could be a few things done to make the experience even better 1. Address the issue with the closing of front door. Did have to slam door to properly close lock. 2. A few sharp areas of the decking where knots have loosened fallen off leaving sharp points. 3. Maybe some decking strips for wooden steps? 4. Decking treatment sand down etc Just a few pointers to aid you going forward

Absolutely fantastic from start to finish, prior to arrival the guys were great on any info we needed , once arrived the lodge was spotless and we was very surprised how well equipped it was , very comfortable and clean, everything you need to vook etc, all towels were provided too, outside om veranda was great plenty of seating great bbq, we also did fishing which was just great literally outside lodge had some fantastic fish upto just short of 23lb , would highly recommend
We spent a lovely family week in the Cedar Cabin. Absolutely beautiful area and couldnt fault the cabin. The hot tub was lovely and so was the surrounding lake, geese, sheep and baby lambs! We took the advise from reading another review and brought our own electric kettle and toaster along as we didnt want to wait around having to boil water on the gas stove and make toast in the grill oven, but everything else was well provided for. We had a curry night down at the local Lion Inn on our last evening and the food there is absolutely amazing! We enjoyed it so much that me and my husband have booked one of the smaller pods for the weekend for just the two of us again for June and November this year! Thank you to Salford Farm for a lovely week away. See you again in June! x

We spent the half term week here with the grandchildren. Great property and location. Very comfortable and warm. We had a very pleasant and relaxing week. Unfortunately had not appreciated that the lake is being developed as a specimen fishery. Fish are present but the style of fishing required is not suitable for the average child which was disappointing. The hot tub was a welcome and well used diversion. Would recommend, but with a reservation about family fishing.

The only downside for us was the chairs we were a group of four ladies on a catch up weekend we didn't want to go out but just have lazy Friday and Saturday nights in but one of us always ended up sitting on the dinning room chair which after a couple of hours not comfy would be great if you removed an item of furniture corner tabledesk to make room for another soft chair this would stop us booking again
Amazing place set in a perfect location around a lake, ideal for families and pets. We found loads of places to visit in the area and could not fit in all the activities we wanted to do. The kids loved the hot tub and spent hours in there each night. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. You are surrounded by the farms sheep which made the stay even more enjoyable. Would highly recommend and I am pretty certain we will be visiting again. Thank you to the owners for creating this gem.
Nice relaxing time.
Andrew
Amazing place to stay so peaceful very clean & tidy would definitely stay again
Lovely. Will be booking again.
The holiday was amazing The owners were really nice The accommodation was clean, tidy and comfortable, however, the TV reception wasn't very good and the main door was really difficult to open, so used the side door. The decking area was great and spent most of our time out there
