Michael
This place was incredible, our only neighbours were sheep, views out of the hot tub was amazing and the house was lovely. If you're going in the autumn winter the drive can be a tiny bit treacherous, however we managed it fine!! Definitely will return if and when we head back in this direction
The house is in a lovely position and very peaceful. The host Darren was very responsive to a couple of minor issues we had, for example a wasps nest appeared above the hot tub area and was dealt with within 24 hours. Would highly recommend
This house is beautiful. The pictures don't do it justice, especially the garden. The kids loved it. It's a sun trap and has beautiful sunsets. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need. The hot tub is a lovely extra. Everything is a drive away, which we knew when booking. We highly recommend.
Hayley
Beautiful. Spotlessly clean. Very relaxing just us, the house and the countryside. It was just what we wanted. Perfect for our family and dog. All enclosed, safe and private. The neighbouring area is lovely too. We would love to come back.

Lovely, well cared for cottage in very remote location very long drive, and steep at one point, from the gate to the property making it even more remote. Great hottub. Dog loved the freedom in the large, fenced garden. Granddaughter says the living room was lovely. Water pressure was surprisingly excellent thought the remoteness may have been a problem, but no. I did miss a large clothes airer seemed to have wet towels and swimming costumes hanging around a lot. Tip for future users staying more than a couple of days perhaps take more coathangers there are only 2 wardrobes for the 3 double bedrooms and there were only a few coathangers. Would stay again in the cottage if choosing to stay in that part of the country.
This was our second visit to Cae Iocyn in two years. It was just as good this time as last time. Everything we needed for a great stay regardless of the weather and we had really warm and really wet days. Would definitely recommend staying here if you really want to get away from everything, but have places nearby to visit. The owners are lovely and send all the information you need in advance, so we had no need to contact them during our stay except about an accidental breakage and they were so lovely about that. So peaceful, the hot tub was wonderful and the dog proof garden meant no worrying about our very inquisitive dog getting out and worrying the livestock. After two consecutive years visiting I think we will not be back next year, but for sure we will be back again.
Patricia
Lovely peaceful cottage, lovely views and well equipped

Thank you for a fabulous holiday! The scenery was stunning and we saw plenty of wildlife, pheasants, hares and birds of prey as well as the sheep and lambs on the drive up to the house. The garden was fully secure for dogs allowing us to relax whilst they wandered and the vast lawn is well maintained. The hot tub was great and we had fantastic weather for March. We visited the quaint village of Chirk to shop and eat at Castle bistro, Teddys cafe, the local fish and chip shop and we had our hair done at the local hairdresser. Everyone is very Friendly. The co op in Chirk was handy for supplies. The house was immaculate on arrival and the beds are comfy. The log burner was cosy on a cooler night and even sat in the lounge you still have the beautiful view. The owner was easily contactable for any queries and was friendly and helpful. All in all a great time was had and we would definitely like to return.
Monique
Wonderful place, beautiful location! The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful. The road up to the house is a bit tricky as it's very steep with loose gravel.
Beautiful cottage in a lovely peaceful setting. Loved it! Definitely be back.
Sharon
We had a lovely week in the cottage in July 2024. The location is so private with beautiful views. The enclosed garden was huge, great for our dog. The hot tub was large and easy to use.

It is a Beautiful place to stay we really enjoyed it we did find as people have ... It is a Beautiful place to stay we really enjoyed it we did find as people have said before the mattress arent the most comfortable and we couldnt stream on the tv with there current WiFi but other then that the house itself the garden hot tub etc was amazing definitely had a really relaxing week there very peaceful
A thoroughly enjoyable stay, the property was just as described. Out of the way enough to chill out or to visit local attractions. Definitely somewhere we would stay again.

Cottage was well equipped however we were not informed theres no drinking ... Cottage was well equipped however we were not informed theres no drinking water2 bottles of water were left but its not enough especially when you have a dog, access to the property was through steep and loose rubble incline not suitable for automatic cars , the garden had a steep drop on 1 side with fencing at the bottom and unfortunately my dog felt down and cut herself on the fence and to top it off the grass was cut prior to our arrival and not collected which meant we and the dog were covered in it which confined us to the patio only, on a final note I think you need to make it clear also that you are surrounded on all sides by sheep if we knew this we wouldnt book the cottage as it was we left after 2 nights as we were stressed and the cottage wasnt suitable to our needs
Eleanor
Extremely peaceful place to stay. Garden fenced appropriately for wellbehaved dogs. Sheep and lambs come right up to the fence so we kept our dog on her lead in the garden when they did. Hot tub was absolutely wonderful. We did however feel that bedside lamps would be a good addition to the property. There was a lack of large saucepans and a large frying pan if a family of six was staying it would present difficulties. Unfortunately only one large wine glass left in the cupboard.... All in all a fabulous stay, we look forward to returning
Claire
Wonderful stay at the cottage we would highly recommend to anyone who likes the peaceful outdoors Such a remote and beautiful location the views were incredible from the garden & the hot tub was huge with a lovely peaceful vibe No neighbours on site so ensure to have your wine and food at the ready! Any queries we had were addressed immediately thanks to Darren. We would love to visit again The Ansty family
We had a lovely short stay at the cottage. Perfect location, clean, spacious, well stocked and warm. We enjoyed the quiet countryside, the gorgeous river, seeing the baby lambs. The farmers were kind and brought us the new borns to stroke. The hot tub was a hit Lovely walks nearby and excellent pubs. Chirk Castle was amazing we loved the area ! Thank you
Alison
Great property in a stunning location, giving easy access for touring the area. I can imagine it being brilliant in summer to just sit out and relax and soak up the surrounding vista.
The cottage was beautiful inside and out the owners were very helpful and contact was easy would recommend for a nice break in the countryside everything was perfect. The hottub and log burner were amazing and just added to the whole experience.
We had a wonderful week at the cottage. Very idyllic and quiet. Just like we like. Wasn't best week with weather but the log burner and hot tub were ideal. Our cockapoo loved the big secure garden. Darren the owner was really helpful. We will be going back.
Our stay at Cae Locyn was once again great, despite the weather. So much to do in the area. Thanks Darren and family.
Rachael
We absolutely loved this house, location amazing, hot tub great but upstairs is where it is let down. PLEASE CHANGE THE MATTRESSES! Loads of reviews about the same thing but we would not return due to this. My husband and I had to sleep in separate rooms as the mattress pushed us both into the middle. When you do sleep on your own we both woke up with sore backs. Our daughter had the third bedroom and normally sleeps on anything but had the same issue. So easy to sort out and replace given the costrevenue and reviews.
Such a beautiful, remote setting but a short drive into Chirk for all the shops, restaurants, take aways you might want. The garden, hot tub and view are all stunning. We had a wonderful week as a family of four plus our dog. Many thanks and we would definitely recommend
We loved it at Cae Iocyn. Our dog loved running and rolling on the grass. It was great to sit outside to eat or with a cuppa or a nice cold drink. We watched Red Kites flying over and Swifts that I think next at the nearby Aquaduct which we walked over, but I'm not keen on heights!. The hot tub is amazing. The views are gorgeous. The sounds of the birds are so peaceful. The shower is great, as is the smart TV with apps for Netflix and Prime. We wished we could stay for longer. A week just wasn't enough. We very much look forward to booking to go again.
The place was amazing the photos on the site do not do it justice . Everything you could want was there and the welcome pack left by owners was very appreciated. . Even the dog was not forgotten with the treats left
Robert
Could not ask for a better trip away, the place is incredible! The house is on its own, no one near by and completely enclosed by fences for your pets to run free. The perfect place to get away from the world and relax, the views are so nice. The owners are extremely kind and provide everything you need for the length youre staying. I recommend 1000x times over!
This cottage is absolutely gorgeous, the views from the lounge and hot tub are so beautiful. The garden is huge and fully fenced so our Newfie was able to race around whilst we chilled in the hot tub. The cottage was so clean, plenty of wood for the fire if needed, the host Darren was so lovely and anything you needed or werent sure about he was so happy to help. I would definitely recommend staying here, some gorgeous walks around also. We will be coming back!
Matthew
We had a fantastic time. What a beautiful, peaceful location. The hosts were brilliant, sending information videos for the heating and hot tub and instructions on how to find the property. When we needed their help with a poorly child they came straight away. We had a great stay and really enjoyed it. Lots of space outside for the children to play, lots around locally to visit too. We took our dog with us and wasnt stuck for places to go, in fact there were more we wanted to do and hope to go back next year. The house was clean and well kept, one of the beds was a little lumpy but Ive slept in worse, the other beds were great. The hot tub was amazing and lots of games to play on a night and a large tv to watch. We bought a football for the kids and they played out in the garden while we relaxed. Highly recommend!
Steven
We had a lovely stay apart from the mattres not very comfortable had a dip in the middle. Lovely and peaceful place to stay if you need to wind down.
Perfect holiday cottage to really get away from everything due to its isolated surroundings, we loved the isolation and peaceful surroundings while our dog loved the large garden and watching the sheep. Owners were lovely and very helpful without intruding and have created an amazing holiday home.
We had the most amazing stay, honestly could not if asked for anything more. The cottage was perfect, Darren the owner was fantastic with his communications and a genuinely nice guy. The area around the cottage is stunning and so peaceful, we watched the red kites daily and did some lovely walks! We will definitely be going again
Caroline
Absolutely stunning location which offers complete relaxation. Cottage was immaculate and had everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a good sized TV which so many holiday cottages skimp on. Absolutely recommend this cottage.
Richard
The owner Darren, made contact prior to our visit to ensure we knew exactly how to get to the cottage. We were met by Becky who showed us around and how to work the heating if required hot tub etc. The property was excellent, spotlessly clean, constant hot water, comfy beds, soft towels and fully equipped kitchen. A nice touch was the unexpected welcome pack. Darren made us feel we were very welcome guests and the quiet location of the cottage ensured we had a most relaxing holiday.
Imogen
Wonderful property, beautiful secluded location perfect for a relaxing getaway. Excellent information and service provided by owners.
Yvonne
The cottage was absolutely beautiful! We were made to feel so welcome by Darren as we arrived. It was so calm and peaceful that we stay the whole week at the cottage. Didnt want leave!! The hot tub was fantastic in there 8pm and the sun still shining
Lovely well presented cottage. Lots of places near by to see. Will be back.
