The Willows Reviews

Justin
Fantastic home a perfect walking distance away from everything Melton Mowbray has to offer in its city center. Kitchen was very well appointed and had everything we needed to cook at home on the nights we did not take advantage of Meltons excellent restaurants. The entire home was very comfortable and the garden was lovely!
Arianne
The willows is such an amazing holiday home, stayed here with our dog for 4 nights and the entire place was amazing, apart from the hot tub not being cleaned and the property due to cleaning mishaps, which the owner came and cleaned out for us and apologised for this. Due to the heatwave we couldn't explore anywhere as we had to the dog but it didnt ruin our stay as the property has everything around it. The dog loved the garden and couldn't get enough of it. Just bare in mind the closest emergency vet is 20 minute drive! Thankyou to the owner for making our stay great. The hot tub was amazing and I was in it everyday, would recommend 100
Claire
What a great find! This property was as listed, perhaps better than the photos indicated. A warm, cosy home from home with plenty of space for us all, and two dogs. The garden was long and worked well for both kids and dogs to let off steam. The hot tub was much appreciated for R&R after busy days out. The location is great, we could all manage the short walk into Melton Mowbray to visit the shops and Victorian Christmas market. Everywhere was clean, plenty of towels blankets if needed. The house remained very warm during our stay. Sadly too warm for us to need the open fire. We would definitely return here if staying in this area again. Thanks!
Stephen
Excellent accommodation clean and well appointed not to far from town, could of done with more than four towels good job we bought towels for hot tub. Seating in living rooms was a little low but other than that we enjoyed our stay. Thank you
The photos in this advert do not do the property justice, its really gorgeous place, everything of good quality, including bed, bedding, kitchenware. The huge, enclosed garden, beautiful, fire pit and hot tub. Were really great. Very responsive owner. Could not of wanted more
Debbie
A beautiful house thats welcoming and warm. Beautifully decorated and so much thought has been put in to guests comfort. Games old school and electronic. Swing and a bbq in the garden area. Spacious and safe for the family and the dogs. The twin beds as advertised is actually a small double bed but thankfully my mum and her friend didnt mind sharing but that could have caused an issue. The single bed and pull out floor mattress was actually a bunk bed,. So one of my teenage lads slept on a sofa as they didnt want to break the bunk bed. We did call the owner to ask advice about the hot tub and she was responsive and lovely when called. Welcome pack was a nice touch. If traveling to the area again, we wouldnt hesitate to stay there again
We had a lovely comfortable stay there were a few things we think could be improved. the bed was very comfortable but the owner needs to put some curtains up as the blind did not keep the light out as dawn was about 4am so the room just lit up the welcome pack was very much appreciated thankyou our dog loved the garden as it was big and enclosed so she was very safe the thing we found there were no comfy chairs to sit on so your neighbours passed us a couple of camping chairs over which was very kind of them there was seating but not to our liking you also need to put either a bathroom cabinet up or some shelves for toiletries the road at the front is busy but it didnt bother us as we spent our time in the back room it didnt bother us when we were in the gardenyou could also do with some information in the property ie where the nearest vets are if you have a dog with you the nearest health clinic and the nearest supermarket etc also dog friendly pubs just for a few examples it might sound as though are moaning but we are not we just think we need to point certain things out to the owner and we say again we had a lovely week we just like to point these things out as we have took our dog away with sykes for years so we know what is needed
Doreen
Fabulous house. It had everything we needed and more for a very clean and comfortable stay. The kitchen gave us plenty of room to entertain visiting family in and spill out onto the lovely garden. The willow tree is stunning. Having two separate down stairs TV rooms was ideal. The hot tub was a welcome addition to the garden. Having the welcome pack on arrival was very much appreciated. Rachel was most helpful with any questions. The weather was perfect and we all enjoyed near by Twinlakes park. Will most definitely recommend and will be back.
The house was absolutely beautiful. It was well equipped and wonderfully clean. The welcome pack was a really nice touch too. We will be back!

So I'm going to start with the negatives Small bedroom has a bunk bed and not the single bed as described, which as we had all adult party was not suitable and we would not have booked this property. Instead they slept on the sofa. Both bedrooms are double beds, not one king as advertised and one is a small double. Most of the internal doors need maintenance, as they don't shut unless forced, the one separating the snug and lounge can't be closed as the latch and stop aren't aligned, which meant you couldn't watch TV in the separate rooms due to dogs constantly pushing door open. Toilet cistern in the downstairs toilet takes so long to fill that it was left unflushed most of the time. There are no knives for food preparation only a blunt paring knife and 2 bread knives. So vegetable preparation was tricky. Fridge door need connecting to cupboard door. Had to purchase logs as there was only a small amount provided in the basket and wood store was empty. We did put the brown recycling bin out by 7am as on instructions but bin was not collected although, others on road were. This meant we had to leave a large amount of recycling in kitchen, would be useful to have larger bins as they are only normal size so having the larger ones might help but if they are not collected then unfortunately owner is never going to catch up with waste. We understand this is not the owners fault. Air source heat pump, which, along with everything else, had no instructions on how to use it. Not gas central heating as advertised. Owner was very good with responding on how to use it as house was cold initially. House really needs an instruction booklet. Now on to the positives House was clean and garden was lovely, beds were comfortable and bedding was really nice quality, house is beautifully thought out and very homely. The hot tub was amazing, although I only got out there once due to having to go and purchase a swimming costume
Angela
Lovely house great location. Very nice welcome pack. Great enclosed garden
Lovely property. Very helpful owners. Would stay there again.
Joanne
Very clean and tidy. Welcome pack greatly received. Noisy workmen locally but that is not the fault of the property owners. Didn't use the hot tub much due to this
We arrived and parked our car leasily on the drive. The welcome pack was very well received thank you!! There were two living rooms to choose from. We used the back room and found the sofa and chairs very comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped. I think Rachel has thought of everything. Our little dog really enjoyed exploring every inch of the beautiful garden. We didn't cook and we didn't use the hot tub. The shower was very good. The shutters on the bedroom windows shut out the light really well. It is a short walk over the bridge into the town centre. The Anne of Cleaves was our favourite place to eat with very friendly staff. We thoroughly recommend this holiday home.
Joanna
Lovely property in a great location only 5 mins walk into Melton Mowbray and lots of other things within 30 min radius. Regular markets and festivals to enjoy on your doorstep. Also great restaurants pubs in Melton Mowbray. Host Rachel was extremely helpful and made us feel extremely welcome. Will definitely be going back sometime in the future.
Siobhan
Had few incidents on visit power cut in area and also lost side door key. All resolved as much as possible by caretaker. Thankyou
Hot tub jets not working and dirty. No information on the house we had to go hunting for things. We heard an incident with the bin men re recycling, all the bins were full when we got there. The bin men when emptying swore and emptied the green bin into the black bin. I dont think people realised which bin was for what rubbish. They said number 19 again. Small bedroom shows single bed which we thought would be ideal for our daughter when we got there it was a bunk bed not ideal for adults. Found broken wine glass put to the back of cupboard. Dangerous slabs on top patio. Broken light in shed. Broken downstairs sink plug and toilet seat needing tightening up as it was loose. Overall lack of maintenance. When we phoned Rachel about the hot tub not working and dirty she was very good and came out the same day. Front bedroom lack of wardrobe space and bed a small double lucky we are small adults. Fridge door not properly secured with facing door we had to correct this ourselves.
Michelle
Thank you for a lovely stay, it worked for what we needed. The bed in the 2nd bedroom is a small double which we didnt realise. Some areas of maintenance are required but this didnt impact our stay. An area guide & guide to whats in the house would have been useful.
Absolutely loved the house, everything we needed and very welcoming. We were all very comfortable there.. Would definitely stay there again. Many thanks to Rachel,an excellent hostess.
Lovely time had by us, our three daughters & our fox red lab. House is beautifully decorated and a really cosy and comfortable stay. Versatile accommodation and a fabulous hot tub and garden. Enjoyed a few games of Cluedo too. Pleased to report I won!
Perfect stay in a beautiful house, modern, bright and welcoming. Garden was ideal for our dog and the hot tub was so relaxing. The living room was comfy, the snug was cosy and the kitchen had everything you needed. The bedrooms are comfortable too. Melton Mowbray is just a short walk and is a lovely place to visit including the market.
The Willows was cosy and warm when we walked in and for the whole stay. It is fantastically located walking distance from town with lots of pubs and restaurants. The Willows has a hot tub, fire and everything you could need for the most fantastic stay. There is everything catered for I would highly recommend thank you we had a great time .
Vincent
It was our second stay in this beautiful house and will not be our last. The spacious kitchen is equipped with everything you will need and plenty of toilet rolls which we usually find lacking in other properties! Lovely long well kept garden which is perfect for dogs. Beds very comfortable which is so important.
Jacqui
The Willows is an absolutely beautiful property, tastefully furnished, clean and equipped with everything you could need, including an absolutely delicious complimentary sponge cake. The garden is huge and well kept and the hot tub was a delight. Melton Mowbray is within easy walking distance where you will find pubs, restaurants and shops. A few potential improvements some instructions for the various appliances particularly the TV and hot tub, a recycling bin inside to encourage guests to separate the rubbish we could see from the contents of the overflowing black bin that isn't always done effectively, labels on the keys they all look exactly the same and there are multiple doors, and maybe a mirror in the little room. These are small things that were certainly not a problem and we would strongly recommend The Willows to anyone considering it. It was one of the nicest places I have stayed in.
Philomena
Very comfortable stay and everything we needed. Beds were very comfortable. Ideal location & walking distance to town and amenities. Thanks
Excellently decorated property with everything you would need in a home and I mean everything like plasters, spare batteries etc. It was a home away from home with the added bonus of a hot tub, enclosed garden for our dog and the most delicious Victoria sandwich cake ever. The only issue was the shower leaked through to the downstairs toilet, but the owner quickly had someone round to fix this so it did not cause any further problems. These things happen and it was quickly rectified so did not affect our stay. Many thanks indeed.
Lysandro
Online price was 508. 00 for the same date but when I called Sykes Customer service since it's last minute due the next day and nearly 2000hrs in the evening and online won't allow me to continue the booking so i have to call the customer service number to confirm the booking did not realised I was charged 516. got a screen shot of what it was advertised and what I was charged. Though only 8 difference but just saying that I was charged wrong. Otherwise the property has no fault and so lovely we had an excellent weekend. The place is highly recommended.
Lovely, comfortable and well equipped property which has excellent facilities. We hot tub was very welcome after a long walk and the dogs loved the garden which was very safe and secure. It was great to be able to walk into Melton Mowbray in the evening
Andrea
Lovely p!ace to stay, ten minute walk to town. Need some waste bins in the rooms, only one under kitchen sink. Bed in double bedroom with metal headboard not comfortable, other beds fine. Could not find pack for hot tub to do the maintainance of water as requested. Enjoyed our holiday there very much.
Great house and well equipped. Realy close to town centre. The garden is brilliant for dogs. Rachel the owner answered any queries promptly. Would stay again if in the area.
Elizabeth
Lovely house in a great central location and nice big garden for the dogs
Lesley
This was a surprise to be in the heart of the town. A small walk and everything you could want in a local town. Great place for the dog lovely walks and a secure garden. Parking space was a plus in a busy road . Everything you could want or might forget to pack is available in this house , credit to owners and welcome pack a lovely bonus after a long drive.
Great Cottage very well equipped had a warm cozy feel loved the hot tub and we were blessed with clear skies at night so lots of stargazing. The garden looked comfy for in the summer however we didnt get to use. Location perfect for walking into Melton 5 mins and you had Sainsburys Tesco and Aldi just a few mins drive away . As dog owners we found Melton Country Park, Rutland Water and Watermead country Park perfect for a good walk and run with the dogs. The only negative was the front bedroom we found it to be loud from the busy road as the window didnt appear to be sealed properly. All in all a great break just what we needed.
Sheila
Lovely well equipped house, in excellent location to town and surrounding villages. Owner makes the best Victoria sponge cake! Have really enjoyed our stay here and would love to come back when weather is warmer and can take advantage of garden and hot tub.
Lorraine
Lovely, cosy property in a great location, hot tub was an added bonus, very relaxing. The goodies left by the owner were a lovely touch. One small thing was the shower room requires some improvements. We would definitely recommend this property and would love to return sometime in the future.
Vincent
This is a beautiful house which is stocked with everything you could possibly need to make a comfortable stay. Every room looked clean and fresh. Essentials plus cakes and biscuits were provided which was an added bonus. The lighted Christmas tree and lights round the kitchen window were a lovely welcome. We will definitely be returning.
Tracey
Lovely cottage in good location
Samantha
Lovely property, garden was great for the dog, all enclosed! Hot tub was very nice. Everything you could need, home away from home! The local village was very nice and only just around the corner!
Beautifully presented and furnished by the owners, with a large and wonderful enclosed garden.
The hot tub was fantastic and the bread, milk, butter and sponge cake welcome pack was much appreciated. Beds and furnishings were comfortable. Long garden was mostly ideal for our dog apart from the top right hand fence which wasn't quite as high as we would have liked. Even with the heatwave the house was reasonably comfortable temperature wise although not sure we got to grips with the heat exchangeraircon. All in all a great short break.
