Gwel Y Fenai Reviews

The stay was amazing the owners were very welcoming so quiet and relaxing place ... The stay was amazing the owners were very welcoming so quiet and relaxing place would recommend to all I would even go and book it again definitely A thank you also for the welcoming gift too
Location exceeded our expectations, and nothing seemed too far to reach. We had a lovely week exploring the Snowdonia national park and Anglesey. The barn was perfect, and we loved relaxing in the hot tub looking out over the Menai strait. We had to contact Sioned the owner a couple of times and nothing was too much trouble for us to have a great week. We will definitely stay at Gwel Y Fenai again if we venture to North Wales in the future. Thank you Sioned.

Like a home from home, clean and cosy with lovely views. Absolutely loved it here! Lots to do for the kids a short drive away, then returning to this peaceful and tranquil location in the evening was perfect!

The location of the property was excellent to explore the area along with the views onto the estuary. The cottage had character, but some of the fixtures need repairing e.g. sink tap and blind in the main bedroom. The property had limited furnishing's and were generally of low quality, particularly in context to the rental cost. The property would benefit from having more storage options and cooking equipment. The hot tub was a plus feature.
Great stay every thing you need very peaceful beautiful view over the strait hot ... Great stay every thing you need very peaceful beautiful view over the strait hot tub one of the best been in beds very comfortable would definitely come here again thanks for a lovely break

We had a wonderful stay, it was perfect for my husband and I and our dog. We have never slept so well as the beds were very comfortable. It was a home from home for us. The bath was lovely and the shower was so nice and finished to an high standard. Everything we needed was provided. The only thing I would recommend you might need would be a clothes airermaiden. There is a washing line outside but sometimes it was too windy to put anything out and we struggled to dry our wet weather clothing. The location is fantastic with Carnarvon town centre only a 10 minute drive away and there is a Morrisons supermarket on the way, which we found very handy. There is also an Asda and Home Bargains again about a 10 minute drive away. If you turn left out the property the village is only a couple of minutes drive away and it has a fantastic shoppost office, pub, a nice place to have a breakfast both dog friendly and a good Chinese takeaway. Its a little harbour and very pretty and we spent quite a bit of time down there. The hot tub was a very welcome addition after a long day and it was so nice to sit in it watching the sunset over the Menai Straights. All in all we had a great holiday and would absolutely stay there again, we loved it. The owners have a little gem there and it was perfect.
We had a wonderful stay. Thank you. We had to contact the host just to ask a question, she was reachable and friendly. The accommodation was beautiful and a perfect location if you would like to walk Mount Snowden starting at the Llanberis pathway. We will definitely be visiting again in the future. The hot tub and views with a beautiful sunset made our trip! Thank you again x

We had a lovely stay at Gwel y Fenai! The property was very clean and tidy, with a spacious downstairs area. The hot tub and views from the back were the best part, especially at sunset. We didnt want our time there to end! Whilst we would stay here again and would recommend to others, we have just a couple of minor bits of feedback to make othersthe owners aware of the garden area is enclosed with fencing, but we found our dog could get through the gaps in the fencing if he wanted to so didnt feel comfortable having him out there since there were livestock that come right up to the fence. This was a bit of a shame. It seemed there were leads secured to the floor so we could tie him onto those, but ideally would have loved there to be mesh fencing as well so its fully secure for him to roam in. We did find a mouldy towel in the washing machine probably left from previous guests? but as mentioned before these are relatively minor bits of feedback. Overall a great stay, thank you!
We had an amazing time and really enjoyed the cottage and the locality! The cottage was clean, spacious, quiet , comfortable with amazing views and provided everything we needed. Ideal location to explore a myriad of places and the sunny warm days were a big plus of course.
Excellent stay, everything we needed, great location and facilities, very clean and tidy and really enjoyed our stay. Would definitely book again in the future Thankyou
Our stay here was brilliant except the blind in the kingsize bedroom was broken. The window in the family room didn't have a latch on it, so if it was windy, it would open up wide. My daughter had to get on a table and stand on it to reach to close it. The hoover only had a short cord on it, so it was limited to where we could clean. Ended up sweeping and then mopping. The hot tub was amazing after coming back from walking all day. Lovely and relaxing.

The views from the back are definitely the best feature. The cottage itself we felt was a little tired looking, especially the bathroom. Toilet seat broke, ducting hanging out of ceiling, door to boiler room wouldnt close etc The kitchen equipment was very under stocked. 3 Tumblers, 4 mugs, chipped plates etcfridge door loose, taps wobbly Just needs a little TLC to make it good again.
The property was a very nice and relaxing place to stay. The beds were very comfortable. One bug bear whenever I'm on holiday is the poor quality kitchen knifes.....however they were fantastic. The only niggle was a few essential kitchen items were not available cheese grater, potato masher, bottle opener and kitchen scissors. We bought a cheese grater and potato masher while there which we did leave for future guests. Otherwise the kitchen well equipped with lots of storage space for food. The hot tub was lovely to relax in after a day out.the driveway is up a hill and the parking spaces at the top we found a little awkward to pull into due to the woodenlog edging being at a right angle at the top. We only had one car and I think it may be tricky getting two up there and into the spaces. We found reversing up the drive enabled up to get into place abit easier. There's a big Tesco only 10 minutes drive away. Also a good sports direct store a little further on from Tesco which came in handy when the sole fell off my old walking boots and I needed to purchase new ones! Close to Llanberis, less than 20 minutes drive. We managed to venture up Snowdon while there the hot tub definitely came in handy the next day to soothe sore achy muscles! Usually after 5 nights away I am ready to come home, but I could definitely have stayed for longer. I felt very relaxed at the property and would definitely return.
Kristen
We had the pleasure of staying here for 4 days 3 nights, we could have so easily stayed longer. This house is immaculate, I love the open plan downstairs. The kitchen has everything you need to cook nice meals, I even took my slow cooker & made beef stew & dumplings for the Sunday when we got back of a long walk. The hot tub was a big hit for my 3 big kids
Kirsten
The property was lovely and comfortable and had almost everything we needed. Perfect location for what we needed to explore and visiting family. One of the nicest properties we've booked and the hot tub is a bonus. The views are stunning and we dropped on some great weather for January, can only imagine it in the summer months. Glad to have managed to get home before the snow hit though already missing the under floor heating. The property was so warm and toasty. The host was lovely and friendly and we would recommend this property and will likely visit again. Maybe a tip for improvement would be beneficial if some cleaning products were left accessible so that we could maintain standards we like to leave the property in, there was no cleaning fluids or mop headbucket or even a simple speedy mop and as we had a dog we found we had to use kitchen towels that we brought to wipe up footprints round the door area. Overall though a property we'd recommend.
Melissa
This is a wonderful secluded barn with a wonderful hot tub and fabulous hosts they are always on hand if you need anything and kind. Would definitely Recommend this cottage for your holiday 10 out of 10 will definitely be going back
Had an amazing time, the property is beautifully converted, very warm and cosy feeling. The hot tub is a lovely addition, especially relaxing with the wonderful views. More than we had expected, thank you for providing an amazing place to stay
Darren
Fantastic location, so peaceful, but so much to go out and explore. Accommodation was lovely, a special place to stay. Would highly recommend, and will certainly want to book this cottage again next time we visit the area
A truly amazing property. Very well equipped, lovely comfortable seats and beds. Great to lie in the big hot tub, looking out to the straits looking at the stars. Can't recommend enough
Brilliant property and location. Amazing sunsets over the Menai Straits from the Hot tub, a fantastic addition. Would benefit from an information pack on use of appliances and recycling etc. Robyn and Anwen were very accomodating, nothing too much trouble. Very pleasantly supprised by the lovely harbour and would recommend the Llofft cafe bar and Gardfon pub also a new pub newly opened on the Harbour Dock. Would definitely return.
Daniel
Amazing place with amazing views and close to both Caernarfon and Anglesey ... Amazing place with amazing views and close to both Caernarfon and Anglesey will be returning in the future Thanks for a lovely stay
Steven
Really enjoyed our stay, the cottage was great and had everything we needed. Amazing views from the garden area, kids loved the hot tub. The bathroom and shower were very good. Nice touch having some tea bags and milk in the fridge for when we arrived and Welsh cakes. Location was so good for Snowden & Zip world would highly recommend.
Jennifer
Beautiful cottage ,has everything you need. , owners of farm and cottage was chatting to us about the cows and sheep they were helpful lovely people. hot tub was amazing looking at the cows in field next to us boys especially loved the animals . beds so comfy we will be back in future thankyou very much we had lovely stay wish we booked it longer x
Elaine
Lovely cottage in a great location for exploring Wales. Lots of things to do and see in the local area just minutes drive from this property. View is stunning and owner very helpful. Stoney beach just a few minutes walk from the house . The animal neighbours sheep and cows friendly and inquisitive.
We loved the quiet location and how modern the cottage was. Everything was there to make it home from home. The only thing we struggled with was the sun shining through the velux windows upstairs at 4am lighting up the bedrooms so would highly recommend some blinds. Also some instructions for the heating more for winter and the rubble to be cleared from the side of the cottage.
A beautiful house in a lovely location. The host was welcoming and accommodating. We will definitely be back!
