Runnymede Reviews

Lovely little cottage, great location. Dogs and ourselves enjoyed the rest very much
Runnymede cottage has to be one of the best we have stayed in via Sykes. Sykes are our go to site for cottage rental and we haven't been disappointed. So long as you fully read the details then you should love Runnymede too. Low LOW ceilings, tight TIGHT stairs, level changes all over the place make this a wonderful and fun place to stay. Beautifully appointed with some marvelous touches added by Sally and Lee. The doggie corner is a lovely touch. If you get the weather and can use the hot tub then do so, its a good one and easily controllable. The river walk for your dog is just across the bridge in either direction. The town is literally round the corner and the Black Bear pub accross the road is superb. We had the weather on our side, hottest June on record but the cottage stayed comfortable and cool. We could not have asked for better for a few days in Tewkesbury. Read the reviews about the car parking, and dont complain as its clear you need to be good at reversing, they didnt need to think about it when it was built. There are 2 electric car charges being set up just after the mini roundabout not in use yet and also in the Morrisons round the corner for fast charging if you have one of those modern type cars!! The cottage next door is also owned by Sally and Lee i believe so you have 2 stabs at one of the best equipped stays we have had. Thank you both.....
This was an excellent cottage for 2 people. It was well presented in a foot location in the town. The cottage was well equipped with lots of finishing touches. The welcome pack was lovely and much appreciated with tea, coffee and milk sachets also provided. The bed was very comfy and the bathroom and kitchen areas very clean and well presented. The hot tub was freshly filled and was lovely to relax in over the hot weekend. Overall we loved the whole cottage and would recommend it to others.

This was a nice cottage. Just across the road starts a nice riverside walk down to the Severn Ham which is a green area, good if you have a dog. Tewkesburys main attraction is its Norman Abbey. As its medieval everything is very low. Only negatives is we could sometimes hear the hot tub running which we were not using but could not find a power off. The other is that it fronts just a few metres from a busy A road, although sound insulation was good, and you have to be a competant reverser if you bring a car.

This is a lovely little cottage within easy walking distance of the town, the cathedral and the pubs. Bearing in mind that the cottage was built in times when people were generally shorter, it is very comfortable the bed especially and quiet. The outside hot tub was welcome. We stayed just before Christmas to go to some Christmas markets, and the owner had put a Christmas tree and decorations up for us, which was a lovely touch. We had one or two queries and she responded promptly. We really enjoyed our stay.
Lovely characterful cottage, great location and very well equipped. A real gem. We had a very happy few days here with our little Border Terrier exploring the Cotswolds and surrounds.
Catherine
We had a wonderful stay at Runnymede well situated in the edge of town so lots of options for eating out. Wonderful walks with the dog nearby too. Hot tub was amazing. Thank you.
Lovely cosy cottage, beautifully decorated with William Morris prints and textiles throughout. Thoughtfully prepared with a welcome hamper, extra toiletries in the bathroom and our Jack Russell enjoyed the dog basket and treats! Parking is fine, the trick being to drive into the small cul de sac at the top of the lane and reverse the short distance back. The cottage is ideally situated in Tewkesbury town centre within a short walk of shops, bars, restaurants and the Abbey. Lots of interesting walks including the battlefields and riverside. Overall an excellent cottage and holiday destination.
A great cottage for 2 people. It had lots of character and the owners thoughtfulness was very much appreciated. A super welcome package was there plus a lot of thought had gone into things we needed for this holiday. Thank you.
My partner and I had an amazing stay here. Being a young couple meant that we weren't familiar with stays like this as it was our first time, however we fell in love with the cottage and had nothing other than a great experience. It was equipped with everything we needed, especially having jugs and bowls to make dough for the pizza oven. The hot tub was used every evening and was a perfect way to end the day. The bed was very comfortable and the bedding was so soft. The communication from the owners was very efficient and the welcome basket was a lovely touch. It was clear to us everything had been thought out well. The location was great for us, being a drivable distance to the Cotswolds. There was a pub across the road with a great atmosphere. There was also a small Tesco's a minute down the road, which came in handy when we wanted to use the barbecue. The downstairs ceiling is relatively low, so my partner being 6'2 did hit his head a few times. However we laughed it off and appreciated how it added to the beautiful aesthetic of the cottage. We would definitely recommend staying here, thank you for having us!!
Lovely cottage which matched the description. Very well equipped including BBQ, hot tub and everything you need in a kitchen. The location is perfect with plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants within walking distance. Would definitely return.
Lovely cottage, ceilings are very low and floors on different levels, but this is all mentioned in the details. car parking was very tight but we managed by reversing down the road as no room to turn round, passenger tho needs to get out of the car before parking as otherwise it too close to open the door. hot tub was nice but did trip out one day so was cold, followed instructions to reset it and was ok afterwards, this didn't bother us as tho we have one at home, so not necessarily why we booked the cottage. cottage was booked for the area close to places to visit and dog friendly. The garden was secure so dogs could go off lead and be safe, the welcome pack and coffee machine was a lovely touch. The only problem we had was that there was a music festival on the weekend we were there, live music playing at ALL the local pubs, one pub literally across the road, another behind the cottage ALL playing live music ALL day long until 11pm, then when the music stopped there was lots of noise from loud drunks
Stuart
Great cottage and location. It has been sympathetically renovated and extended. Great style and use of the space. Furnished to a good level the bed & pillows were super comfortable. Only used the hot tub once, but it was clean, relaxing and a great bonus. The garden is fabulous too.
Wonderful cottage very comfortable bed.
Hilary
The location of the property was great and the owners had thought of absolutely everything visitors might need. Very comfortable bed, a wonderful welcome box and welcome folder with lots of very useful information. The cottage was delightfully quirky but as seniors, we found the low ceilings and very twisty stairs a challenge. The parking was also tricky but all this was balanced with the thoughtful presentation of this property.
Great location . Cottage was well equipped and clean . Supper comfy bed . Welcome pack was lovely . The little garden to the rear is a little paradise . Hot tub fantastic . Highly recommend . Will be booking again .
What a find! We loved our stay at Runnymede cottage. The cottage has got so much historic character and is at the same time equipped with all mod cons. There are so many little touches which really show that the owners want their guests including our dog to have a good experience. Loved the the hot tub, the parking space, the welcome basket, the provisions for the dog, the bed linen and the scent of the towels and so on. It was perfect! The cottage is really well placed to explore the town centre and the fabulous pubs on foot. I would not hesitate to book Runnymede again.

Lovely authentic cottage stay with modern amenities. Clean and comfortable and in a great location to explore Tewkesbury.
Absolutely fabulous little cottage. Had everything we needed and more with a lovely basket of goodies too. Hot tub is spotless and very quiet in the garden. My husband is 6ft 2 and bumped his head a few times but was worth it lol. Boris the dog had lovely walks too. Good pubs and shops on your doorstep. Thank you
Stephanie
Was aware that the property had some low beams but didn't realise all of the ceilings would be so low, the only room my partner could stand up straight in was the sun room. Not recommended for guests over 6 ft! Other than that the cottage was well appointed and had everything needed for our stay. It was very clean and location was great.
On sweeping the floor having trailed in mud , I did notice a fair amount of dog hair was also collected in the sweepings . Whilst we were aware dogs were permitted at the property, we do not have one .Perhaps vacuuming in between guests would be more efficient at dealing with this. Also , the hot tub was noted to heat up more than once a day automatically . We did not use the appliance but were reluctant to interfere with the mechanism. This caused a large waste of energy , and as the owners of the cottage mentioned in their note that they hoped to limit costs , it seems sensible to leave instructions as to how it may be switched on and off as required. Otherwise , the cottage contained all 2 people needed for a week's break and we were happy.
Really cute cottage we really enjoyed our stay.
Great little cottage full of character. Location was ideal. We only had 1 issue during our stay and the owners were attentive and sorted it straight away. We are out in several cafes and restaurants in the town and never used the cottage to cook. Will definitely return for another visit
Sharon
A charming character cottage, set in the very heart of Tewkesbury. We really enjoyed our stay but my husband found the stairs a little challenging.
Whats not to love? ! Were both 6 foot and my husband has limited mobility living with MS. My head touched the 2 low beams in the living room and the ceiling at the beginning of the kitchen! Didnt bother us at all! Parking at the front is tight but totally doable. Shower is so powerful. Garden on multilevel and such a beautiful sun trap. Black Bear across the road is excellent! The layout, drinks, food, highly recommended! Gorgeous welcome pack in the kitchen when we arrived. Attention to detail throughout is bang on. The bed, wow! So comfortable with plush Egyptian cotton bedding! Cotswolds Lavender Farm is well worth a visit for lavender lovers! Lovely high street with traditional shops and new ones too. In a nutshell, book this cottage and explore the area! You wont regret it!
We had such a lovely time at the Cottage, the owners made sure the cottage had everything you need. It was very clean one of the cleanest we have ever stayed in. We will definitely be back
Michelle
Amazing cottage has everything you need and more. Dog had own Bed treats on arrival and a lovely welcome basket for us with wine , jams, bread, biscuits, milk , butter in the fridge.great location in the heart of Tewkesbury. The hot tub extra bonus after a long walk.cant wait to go back.
A lovely cottage in a most convenient location. Would stay there again and also recommend to anyone wanting comfy and cosy accommodation in the Tewksbury area. Many thanks, Angela and Alan.
Michael
Very quaint cottage close to the town center. It has a nice outdoor area not that we had too much use of it in November!. Very clean and comfortable as well as being well equipped. Town is a great place to walk around, lots of old buildings and pubs. Its true what they say about the beams though! watch your head moving from room to room. Great stay well recommended.
Timothy
Everything in the house was of good quality and we particularly enjoyed the Swan items in the kitchen. A lovely mix of old and new. Right next to an ancient bridge over the Avon, and a good atmosphere and beer in the Old Black Bear, the oldest pub in Gloucestershire, just over the road. The Abbey is beautiful and just opposite it we had a good meal in the Abbot's Table.
A beautiful, spotlessly clean quirky cottage. We had a lovely time. The cottage is very well equipped and in a fabulous location for walks and as a base. The welcome basket was a lovely touch and very much appreciated. Thank you for having us .
We wouldn't hesitate in recommending Runnymede. It was beautifuly presented and very clean, the owners have thought of everything when doing this property up. We just loved everything about it and couldn't fault it at all. The welcome pack was also an added bonus, a very kind thought and very much appreciated. Thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful, quirky cottage, we had a lovely week.
It was lovely for us to be able to come to this lovely cottage,we are getting on in years and it was a lovely opportunity to visit all the places we used to take the boats we had. The cottage was spotless and everything you would want was there even a washing machine,I would suggest a slip mat for in the shower as it was slippery. The welcome basket was so much appreciated having saved us going straight out to get something ,it just let us get on unpacking .the bed was a dream havent slept that well for ages.
Tracey
A little gem in the heart of the Cotswolds. The cottage was perfect for 2 and very comfortable. Lovely welcome package & very comfy bed. Wellequipped kitchen. Lots of hot water to shower at the end of a long days walking. The courtyard garden was a suntrap and our favourite spot for G&Ts at the end of the day. We visited Winchcombe, Broadway, The Malverns, Slaughters and Bourtononwater during our week. Plenty of choice of takeaways & restaurants in the town all walkable. We parked in the Oldbury car park 4 for 24 hrs. The pub across the road was also handy. Highly recommended
We had a lovely stay at Runnymede, the cottage was a cute, quirky originally medieval cottage, with its narrow spiral staircase, inglenook fireplace and 2 main rooms it was gorgeous The kingsize brass bed was so comfy I didn't want to get out of it. There were very nice touches like the welcome basket filled with essentials and the dog bed and treats. There was only 1moan I had that the grill pan was too small for the grill but I got around that by using the oven to cook burgers. I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone, its close to the town and the nearest pub is across the road Ye Olde Black Bear.
Lynette
This was a wonderful cottage. It was comfortable and clean, and in a fantastic location. The only real issue was parking, but that was easily resolved when I arrived the narrow lane was blocked by other cars. There were also some very low ceilings. I don't think my 6 ft 5 son would have enjoyed being in the kitchen! For me, at 5ft 4, it was not a problem.
Susana
Gorgeous cottage, very well presented, spotlessly clean. Fully enclosed garden. Excellent location to wander into town. Tight spiral staircase and low beams as expected in this type of property. Parking outside the cottage is tight but manageable. All in all, really enjoyable stay in beautiful property.
