Avonmede Reviews

The cottage was just fantastic
Host was great & had good communication. The cottage is equipped with all the basic needs like tea, sugar, fairy liquid etc & also a basket of treats for us & the dog. Im 6 foot 1 & did struggle with the ceiling height in the kitchen & all the doorways no fault of the cottage but just be aware of youre taller than me. It did become a little annoying ducking all the time & banging my head a few times again, its an old cottage with a lot of character so this is not a complaint. The hot tub was great & we used it every night. The only point to raise which became frustrating was the parking situation you are allocated a zone which is essentially a culdesac with places to park along the pavement which is 1 min walk round the corner from the cottage. Numerous times throughout our stay there was no spaces to park so we ended up parking in a different zone which risked getting a parking ticket. On our last night, there was no spaces again so we parked outside our cottage with just enough room for the neighbours to squeeze past not ideal but we didnt want to risk a ticket. We messaged Sally re the parking situation and we actually got asked to move it from in front of the cottage as neighbours had complained. Although this is out of Sallys hands its the only issue with the cottage. Maybe better enforcement of the zones to deter people parking there without a permit would help. Other than that, we had a great stay with a fantastic pub across the road. Would highly recommend.

Lovely, cosy little cottage right at the edge of the town. Ideal location with easy access to the town and riverside walks. Cottage is tastefully decorated, minimalist to make the most of the listed qualities stone floor, walls and black beams. As with previous reviews, I'm 6 foot tall, so always had to be mindful of ducking under doorways not always successful!, but this adds to the character of the property and didn't spoil our enjoyment. Checkin was straightforward with clear instructions via email and text information from owners Lee & Sally. Kitchen was small, but perfectly functional. Hot tub was perfect after a long day out, although access was via a short flight of steps which could be a mobility issue for some. As were the stairs to the bedroom, which although a short climb, are quite steep. These are not criticisms, this is a period cottage with all the characteristics you'd expect and were not a problem for us. ...and we're in our 60s and reasonably fit!. Would definitely recommend and hope to go back.

Really enjoyed our stay here, was ideal location with one of the best pub you'll find across the road. Everything worked you know and we had no issues There was also a very generous welcoming basket The only thing id say which is not a complaint just a warning to others in the 6 foot club it is really low. I could not stand up in either the kitchen or the shower and the position I had to adopt to descend the stairs is still baffling anatomists to this day. Would definitely stay again though despite that
Lovely quaint well maintained terraced cottage situated close to the river and the High Street. The bedding is fresh, clean and comfortable. The Welcome hamper was great. The hot tub was an added benefit. All in all a fabulous little bolt hole
Lovely cottage ,good location at the start of the High Street in Tewkesbury ... Lovely cottage ,good location at the start of the High Street in Tewkesbury Ideally situated to explore the surrounding area Highly recommended
The cottage gives one a chance to experience what it might have been like to live in a cottage in earlier times with the addition of modern convivences especially the hot tub! While the ambience is nice, the ceiling and doorways are low watch your head. It should also be noted that the steep stairway requires full mobility. There were wonderful touches of homey hospitality included that made our eighteenth century cottage experience very enjoyable.
Fabulous property. Great location. Welcome treats for humans and dogs a nice touch. Hot tub is excellent. Nothing to fault it, just first class. Only reservation would be not suitable for someone with any mobility issues, due to stairs and steps inside and out.
We had a week at this lovely cottage, it's small but cleverly renovated to include everything you need. Location is great, right at the end of the main street, and we used the resident's parking which was just around the corner. Hot tub is great. The cottage and Tewkesbury have a real feeling of history throughout, and you're right by the river for walks. Our poodle Beryl enjoyed herself, and the provision of a dog bed and treats was appreciated. One warning to people of average height or above, there are low door frames which are very easy to connect with not in a good way!. We would certainly stay here again if returning to the area.

Just Back from holiday after staying at your lovely cottage, Tewkesbury is a nice town with an interesting High Street leading to the Abbey which was well worth the visit, dog friendly too which was helpful to us. We also had some lovely days out in the Cotswolds passing through some beautiful villages including a visit to the village of Broadway by steam train ! also a very pleasant day out in Stratford upon Avon and a quick raid on the cider farm on the way home. Your traditional cottage is just what we wanted, perfect for the two of us and our dog Alfie, called in the local butchers for our sausage and burgers for our bbq night, also a great pub The Black Bear straight across the road for a couple of scoops in the evening. Many thanks to you both and hope to visit again in the future, Stephen, Pauline and Alfie.

We had 5 lovely days at the cottage everything was lovely very clean and the towels were lovely and soft the bed linen beautiful well everything was great and the hot tub was perfect would go back definitely recommend lovely town lots to do so
This quirky cottage is an absolute gem. The get you in pack is a fantastic touch and was very welcome. The Happy Birthday was a great surprise. We had a wonderful weekend and the hot tub is a great way to relax at the end of the day. Thank you.
We had a lovely stay, it was a great base for exploring many different areas of the Cotswolds. The house itself was really quirky and so nice to see still having lots of original features. The hot tub and welcome basket were nice added touches. There was only one downside and that was the noise from the pub on the Friday night, this cannot be helped of course and midweek it wasnt an issue at all.
Absolutely beautiful! The cottage was so lovely and so cosy. It is all really well put together. The kitchen had everything we needed. The welcome basket was such a wonderful touch. The history of the cottage was really interesting too. The hot tub was an awesome bonus, so relaxing. We really enjoyed exploring Tewkesbury, it is a beautiful place. Would highly recommend this cottage for a beautiful, cosy and relaxing getaway!

We had such a wonderful stay here, truly a little gem! Beautiful little cottage, and we loved the welcome pack we received.Bobby our dog enjoyed his too! We enjoyed the back garden and it was beautiful in the early morning, sat outside having breakfast on the decking. We had such a wonderful special stay here.Thank you so much for making such a beautiful place to stay!
An excellent find! Lovely cottage, very well appointed and a really comfortable bed. I did have reservations about the proximity of the main road but they were unfounded, traffic noise was not an issue. The pub opposite was a popular spot and we ate there during our stay. Very handy for the High Street and the attractions that can be found along its length. Loved the hot tub and the privacy on the terraced garden which is a delightful space to sit, relax, and watch satellites and shooting stars passing overhead while drinking a glass of wine.
Joanne
Avonmede provided a warm and comfortable stay. The cottage is spotlessly clean with everything we needed. We had a welcome pack on arrival of essentials so we had breakfast the next morning. Very welcome thank you. Avonmeade is full of charm and character of a cottage. It is well situated so access to shops, restaurants, pubs a short walk away. Thank you x
Lovely cottage and your description was accurate. Need to advise about ceiling height and small internal steps but that is nature of listed cottage. The stairs were very steep so left luggage downstairs, so not a problem. My little dog enjoyed some of your treats too so thank you. Bed linen super, I am going to research the brand. Thank you
The cottage was really well renovated in keeping with the traditional style and looked after with great detail. Cleaned thoroughly and furniture was well invested into. Everything was comfy and cosy. The hottub was great and plenty of amenities. Friendly customer service from the hosts aswell. Really recommend.
Debbie
Just back from a 2 night break at Avonmede. We had a lovely time the cottage was very cute and cozy, well equipped with everything we needed for our short stay. The owners had left a welcome basket with butter, jam, marmalade, biscuits, bread and even a bottle of wine for us and provided a dog bed, biscuits and blanket for our pooch, which were all thoughtful touches. We thought it was funny that the dog bed was really for a much smaller dog than our German Shepherd but she tried to get into it nonetheless! The property is well positioned to easily walk around the town and down along side the river and is within easy reach of several pubs one right opposite, which was very handy and dog friendly too. The hot tub is an added bonus, and it was lovely to relax in it after our long day out walking. I will be recommending to my friends and family with dogs most excellent.
Beautiful cottage in an excellent location. Lots of dog walks close by and just at the end of the high street. We loved everything about the cottage recently done to a very high standard. We parked close by in Oldbury Road car park for just 4 per day which you can do on Ringo app. Much appreciated welcome basket and lovely thought of dog bed, towel, treats. Would love to stay again.
Richard
Excellent cottage lovely hot tub. Parked on bridge as recommended by owners and had car scratches from front to back.
