Dolwaenydd Reviews

Pauline
We have stayed at Dolwaenydd on 3 occasions and we will return. The accommodation is fantastic, something for everyone, very spacious with comfortable beds. Our only issue was getting the heating and Aga to work. We contacted Menai and spoke to the maintenance guy and realised that the main switch to the Aga which is hidden behind the coffee machine had been switched off. Once this was on everything worked perfect.
Really enjoyed our stay here, lovely property and garden space was fantastic for the dogs. Hot tub location with unspoiled views of the countryside was awesome. Inside the house was thoughtfully decorated, the only minor issue was it could have been warmer with the heating only coming on twice daily and no means to alter. Lots of games and books provided, and enjoyed toasting the marshmallows in the fire pit. Fantastic base for exploring Anglesey and North Wales.
Pamela
Our second family holiday at the farmhouse cottage was fantastic. Its incredibly comfortable with cozy beds, spacious living areas and scenic garden views. The only issue we had was the shared parking with Mynydd Parys. The parking spaces could be clearer especially with two vehicles per holiday let.
Amazing property, really is a home from home, has everything you need and more! Property is in an amazing location with superb views! Would love to come back, thank you so much again!
Such a lovely house with a nice feel to it,everything was so comfortable from the beds pillows and seating areas of the house. Very spacious and well equipped. The garden is lovely with beautiful views of the countryside our two Collies loved the space. We are already looking to book to stay again. One thing to mention is I had a question before our stay and found it very difficult to speak to someone from Sykes for instance I was on hold on the phone for 30mins so started a WhatsApp chat only to receive a reply 24hrs later. This has nothing to do with the owner but I just wanted to make them aware. Overall a fabulous house in a beautiful setting.
Lovely stay again in this delightful cottage. The place has quality fixtures and fittings, soft furnishings and finishing touches and attention to detail that make it special. Very well maintained and cake, coffee, tea, marshmallows etc. when one arrives is a lovely gesture. New, bigger shower is fab and a laid, ready to go firepit that again shows care for the guest is above and beyond and a nice bit of fun.
Dolwaenydd is a beautiful, well equipped house with a large garden in a peaceful and quiet location. We enjoyed playing croquet in the garden, making fires in the fire pit and toasting marshmallows, and sitting in the hot tub admiring the view as the sun goes down in the evenings. The location is really convenient for sightseeing on Anglesey and Snowdonia and the Great Orme are less than an hours drive away. Highly recommended property! PS If you would like to plug your own Amazon fire stick into the tv in the main living room, bring an extension cable.
Excellent spacious property, welllocated but peaceful and private. Great for a larger family group. Very well equipped, both inside and out with the large westfacing, furnished patio a particularly attractive feature.
Doelwaenydd is a lovely property which is very comfortable and with fantastic views and we very much enjoyed our stay. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone considering making a booking.
We had a fabulous week in Dolwaenydd. This is our fourth time staying there. The location is very convenient and it is very well equipped, beautiful cottage. I would definitely recommend it. Cleanliness was not as good as previous times we have stayed there. Lots of dark, long human hairs in one of the upstairs beds, black dog hairs on throws in two of the bedrooms, hairs on bathroom floor, lots of white smears on mirror in ensuite bathroom and an open, used difflam throat spray left in ensuite cupboard. It would also be helpful if they informed you that the hot tub won't be turned on even if you have paid for it. We were surprised that the water wasn't up to temperature on the saturday morning at around 9am as this was well over the 9 hours they advised leaving it. We then realised it hadn't been turned on for us. It would be useful if the instructions said you need to turn it off so you don't lose time for using the hot tub after paying the additional cost for it.
Another lovely stay. Such a well equipped house. We had a couple of maintenance issues that were dealt with very quickly which was great.

Loved every minute of our stay. Brilliant!!!
The cottage was in an ideal area for us it was quiet but not isolated. There was a lovely garden for the dog, which he enjoyed running around. The cottage was decorated beautifully for Christmas and there were plenty of blankets scattered around the cottage so there be no need to be cold. The cupboards were well stocked and the cottage was lovely and warm. It was a difficult start to the holiday with one of the worst storms but the owner was very helpful. Thank you so much for your help we really enjoyed the stay.
Alison
We had the most amazing week, everything you need and such a beautiful house in beautiful surroundings. A little dusty under the couch and beds Im asthmatic but not a big deal and spotless everywhere else. Close to beautiful beaches and a stately home and gardens. The Rayburn was a bit of a challenge
Matthew
This is a great house in a fantastic location, albeit with a number of other properties. The wonderful Newborough beach is close by and the mainland is easily accessible should you want a change from Anglesey why would you!. My only additional feedback would be the partially restricted headroom upstairs if you are particularly tall. Same is true for the bedsteads mattresses very comfortable though.
Lovely house, clean, enjoyed stay, air fryer would be a nice addition would ... Lovely house, clean, enjoyed stay, air fryer would be a nice addition would save putting aga on sometimes hot tub was cold last morning but after speaking to lady who cleans hot tub now know to keep eye on water level thank you for nice stay

Lovely luxury home on Anglesey. We were welcomed with a huge Victoria sponge and coffee which was well received. Super soft bed linen and furnished delightfully. We took advantage of the hot tub which cheered the rainy days uphousekeepers spotted wed mistakenly left some items which they communicated to us and sorted out swiftlya luxury getaway that was professionally run! we would love to stay again!
The cottage was perfect for our family holiday. It was very clean and comfortable. Couldn't fault anything in the cottage. The hot tub was amazing with stunning views. Will definitely return
Pamela
Our stay at Dolwaenydd cottage was excellent and our Dog 2 years old Border Collie had a lovely time running around the garden. The cottage is very comfortable, specially to stay in when the weather is grey and miserable. Plenty of room to enjoy. We have enjoyed the peace and scenic view from the garden. I will definitely recommend Dolwaenydd cottage.
An absolutely stunning property that we would love to stop in again. It was the attention to detail that was over and above anywhere else we have stopped in. The kitchen was well equipped with more than enough crockery, cutlery & utensils. The living areas were spacious and comfortable. The garden is fully enclosed, so you can let the dogs out safely. There was a hot water tap outside to clean off after muddy walks. The welcoming touches were a lovely thought. Thank you for an amazing stay.

Brilliant cottage and location. Highly recommend.
Fantastic stay at Dolwaenydd, We will be back
We had such a wonderful time. The house is very comfortable, warm and cosy. It is very well equipped and clearly a lot of thought has gone into what is needed to make your stay as good as possible. The views are stunning and its proximity to many beaches and places of interest is great. Very comfy beds too!
We had a great stay with family for Christmas at Dolwaenydd. Beautiful scenery, lovely decor and very clean and welcoming. Extra touches like Christmas decorations and chocolates in the stockings at the end of every bed went above and beyond. The only issue was we had payed the extra supplement for the hot tub but unfortunately it wasnt turned on for the start of our stay, so we had to notify Menai holidays the next day. The hottub takes 24 hours to heat up to temperature so all in all we lost a few days. Once it was ready to use we then had a power cut which started overnight and went into the next afternoon so the hot tub went cold again. So we feel that we didnt really get the full use of it which was especially disappointing for the teenagers in the group.
We had a fantastic stay at this property! The property was clean throughout and was very large and well equipped. On arrival we had hot tub towels aswell as normal ones, coffee pods and many other staples. Little things such as fire sticks in the TVs and Ethernet ports at the TVs are a nice touch. Internet was good at the property with around 80mbs. The hot tub kept temperature well, just a shame it couldnt be manually changed as when windy it could feel colder than on milder nights. The garden was well kept and was a nice size, our bearded collie and cocker spaniel had a lot of fun playing with each other out there. Property overall was of great spec and I would recommend staying here.
The house is wonderful. It was perfect for what we needed. The beds were comfy, the linen was clean and good quality as were the sofas. Sadly the level of cleanliness was nothing short of shocking and disappointing. BATHROOOMS The toilets has not been cleaned, the sinks were dirty showers weren't too bad. The floors had not been hoovered and mopped behind the doors. Loads of hair present. The property evidently lacked a serious deep hooverclean under beds, behind and under other items of furniture such as sofas and tables. There were loads cobwebs, reallly dusty curtain poles, the kitchen surfaces still had the previous guests toast crumbs on, the doors are dirty around the handles, the drawers and cupboards needed a good wipe inside, the baking trays were really bad not nice having to cook food on at all. Honestly, the level the of cleanliness really tainted our stay and left all 8 of us feeling very disappointed. Sykes Cottages customer service replies would benefit from being less 'auto reply' and more personal to each customers complaints and issues raised.
Andrew
A delightful property that helped make our weeks stay most enjoyable. The rear aspect of the fields kept us occupied by looking for the cows. A relaxing place and we felt refreshed just as it should be. As the weather was unseasonably warm we needed no heating on but you can tell this would be a very cosy place to be in winter. Highly recommended
We had a great stay, lovely house like the pictures show. Got used to the Rayburn cooker, which was a nice novelty. Great garden for our 3 year old and 2 dogs to run around in. There are some great walks and stunning beaches around, of course. Daily cow parade was fun to watch too. Take everything you need for kitchen and bathrooms, like bin bags, toiletkitchen rolls etc. Shop near by that sells everything.
Although this was our first stay at Dolwaenydd, we know this small development very well as we have previously stayed at Trefwri on a number of occasions before it was sold. So we knew about the stunning views and the extensive garden space and terrace but even the gallery of photographs didn't prepare us for the comfort and renewed stylishness of the upstairs and downstairs accommodation. And everyone loved cooking in the very well equipped kitchen including becoming acquainted with the Rayburn! We are already planning a repeat fortnight in 2024. Thank you Helen & Tom for making your beautiful holiday home available.
Caroline
Absolutely lovely house. Beautifully decorated and furnished. The owner has catered for all your needs. We have had a fabulous week in the comforts of this lovely house.
The property was fine, rooms, furniture indoor & outdoor and bedding were all excellent, as was kitchen and utilities. The only two gripes I had were that the outside lighting could do with an upgrade and with regards the hot tub I would have liked to have been able to alter the temperature to my preference. If I had known that the tub was set to a constant 38 I probably wouldnt have booked the property I prefer them at 40 it does make a difference apart from that we loved the property and the views
Elizabeth
Dolwaenydd was a lovely place, very peaceful, exceptionally comfortable especially the beds. There was plenty of room for all the family and for the children to play. We did have a few issues firstly, the hot tub was not opened for us on arrival. This was not the owners fault but Sykes. We found the BBQ was left in a state of not being able to cook on it until it was cleaned along with a frying pan also. We were left with no cleaning equipment the door was locked If it wasn't for the lady that did the garden and hot tub who found a dust pan and brush for us we would have had nothing, she also kept the owner updated on the issues. Apart from this we all had a brilliant time and said it was the best accommodation we have stayed in since coming to Anglesey as a family. We look forward to coming again soon.
Incredible stay ! Will be booking again soon
Jennifer
One of the best we have stayed in peaceful, light and restful and SO WELL equipped .
Debbie
A superb house with every detail thought of. The house was spotlessly clean and soooo comfortable. Our family absolutely loved it. The welcome pack was very much appreciated too. We will definitely be back.
Nicola
We spent a lovely few days at Dolwaenydd. The property had everything we needed and more and beautifully decorated. The hot tub was great, with amazing sunset views in the evening. The garden was perfect for the children and dogs, huge lawn and enclosed so the dogs couldn't escape. Lawn games, BBQ and even wind breakers for the beach are all provided in the outhouse. The beds were comfortable, the living room was so cosy with the log burner on for relaxing and the kitchen was well stocked with everything you could need for cooking. Rayburn oven was a nice touch. The sun room was a lovely room to spend time in, and was where the children based most of their time. Would highly recommend and will definitely return for another holiday!
Alison
We absolutely loved Dolwaenydd! It was beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable had everything we could possibly need. It was so peaceful we had fantastic sun sets every night, loved seeing the rabbits play and watching the birds of pray and the geese and ducks fly over. Also loved seeing the cows
BBQ very dirty and mouldy, no gas for it and told to go and buy it yourself in a rural place it was a 11 mile round trip no thanks. The place was lovely but we could have done with a brush and mop considering we had the dog with us. Hot tub went murky don't know why this happen tried to contact Sykes but gave up after being on hold for 40 mins.

Unfortunately myself and other family members were unable to go on this stay due to Covid. We requested to rearrange the booking 5 days prior to our stay and were happy to pay the additional cost of moving the booking, however our request was declined and we were told we either had to cancel the trip without a refund, or travel with covid, which was illegal according to the restrictions in Wales at the time. Unfortunately, this meant that some of the family had to go without us, which was very frustrating, especially as the request was not last minute. The family that were able to go on the holiday shared the following feedback about the cottage The cottage itself was lovely, cosy and clean. You have to book the hot tub separately. When we booked, it was not clear how to do this so we contacted Menai Holidays who advised they hadn't received any information from owners about how to book the hot tub. Eventually they got back to us and we paid the additional fee 200. The hot tub was nice but unfortunately it is placed right next to a public footpath so anyone using the path walks right by you. It does not feel private. This is not detailed in the listing and had we been aware, we probably would not have paid the additional fee. Overall, the cottage was lovely and the location was great, however due to the booking process not being clear and inflexibility in rearranging meaning that half the family were unable to go on the holiday, we would not book again and can't recommend unfortunately.
