Valley House Reviews

Just the relaxing holiday we were looking for. The Garden is stunning and the house is beautifully decorated and really well equipped.
Catherine
Valley house is a fab space to gather with family or friends . The surrounding gardens 5 acres worth are just so relaxing where you can wander around , taking a different view point of the gardens from one of the many seats dotted around . And for those who want to just chill rather than wander ,the hot tub was a firm favourite! A hidden gem !
The cottage was lovely, but we did have a couple of issues with the property. One night, when one of the teenagers were in the shower, water started dripping down into the lounge! It stopped, soon after they stopped showering. One of the Teenagers nearly had a bad accident, when returning from the Hot tub, in the dark, as there was no lighting, he stood on the edge of the steps, and they were loose! The beds were ok for small children, but not really suitable for teenagers. New cushions for the furniture are required, as they do not fit properly. There were cobwebs on the shell decoration in the master bathroom, and we found sweet papers under the bed in the four poster bedroom. My wife cleaned the mirrors as they were dusty! Overall it is a lovely property, which we all enjoyed, in a lovely location. We would return! The steps around the Hot tub must be repaired, and lighting from the Hot tub to the house must be installed! Even solar lights, which I bought and placed in the trees around the hot tub made a difference!
We had a lovely week staying in this beautiful cottage with our two teenagers and both sets of grandparents. It was plenty big enough for all of us, with spacious rooms and lovely gardens and land surrounding the house. The location was ideal just a short walk or quick drive into Devizes and made it easy to explore the local area. The house was very well equipped with everything we needed, and the beds were extremely comfortable. A perfect place for a relaxing family break wed definitely love to return!
Great location to explore Wiltshire. Good amount of space and huge garden. Hot tub was top notch. Whole place very comfort. Would definitely book again.
Lovely large property with spacious gardens. Plenty of spaces and rooms for everyone. We took our own cafetierre, as we couldnt find one at the property, but everything else was catered for, including a coffee machine with pods. Very quiet, fabulous hot tub perfect for sitting in and looking up at the stars and listening to the owls.,.
Valley House proved to be the perfect place for my family and friends gathering in celebration of my 80th birthday, with people coming and going during the week. Everyone felt it to be like a world of its own, hidden away despite the proximity of Devizes and the A360, where they could relax and enjoy being together or withdraw for time alone. We did feel some improvements possible 1. the file of information about the property is minimal. More specific instructions re the hottub might have prevented us needing to call the owner for advice on adjusting the temperature.2. We would have been glad to use the coffee machine but didn't find any instructions until packing as we hadn't used the cupboard where they were hidden....and we couldn't source the right pods nor were any supplied. 3.Instructions re departure were missing too and we were not sure whether to strip the beds we did or not. 4. The instructions re the Nature Trail were useless as they didn't specify in which direction to walk straight out of the house ! A map showing its location in relation to the house, which could include where in the grounds we would stray into the neighbours' property would have helped enormously 5. A proper history of the property and its time as a mill would have been interesting. Several people had a problem finding the house, even if they found the drive correctly. It bears no name on it that we could find and the view on approach is totally different from the one on line. They went on further looking for it! A disappointment was the inefficiency of the dishwasher which we ended up using only once and only one tablet was supplied. Having put it on for an eco wash, lasting over 3 hours, we had to wash nearly everything again by hand as it was still dirty. This may explain why we found it necessary to wash much of the crockery, pans and glassware before we could use them. We also noted that quite a bit of the crockery and glassware is chipped. The cleaners arrived early and I informed them of this. They were going to report it to the maintenance person. None of this really impinged on our enjoyment of the week but could improve things for those who come after us. Several of the group would love to help in the garden if they were nearer, especially to revive those beds directly around the house. We all enjoyed the sight of ripening apples and pears, hundreds of blackcurrants and gooseberries as well as the huge blackberries in the wilder areas.
A Perfect Holiday in Every Way We had the most wonderful time the perfect house in the perfect location for a truly perfect holiday. We had two young children in our group aged 6 and 4, and the expansive garden was an absolute paradise for them. It felt like their very own adventure playground, with a stream complete with little waterfalls, ducks, and charming bridges to explore. The woodland walks and hidden corners were ideal for games of hide and seek, while the large lawn provided plenty of space for football and frisbee. We were surrounded by nature the peaceful sounds at dawn, the incredible stargazing at night, and the pure tranquillity of the countryside. The hot tub was a real treat, especially when paired with evening drinks and a BBQ in the garden. My grandchildren were so enchanted by it all that they cried when it was time to leave. Thank you for such an amazing holiday you've helped create memories for the little ones that theyll treasure forever.
Doreen
A lovely property in an amazing setting. We all loved it and are looking forward to a return visit.
Lyndsey
Lovely place, and exactly what we needed for a boardgamesandhottub retreat as a group of friends. I really appreciated how responsive and accommodating the owner was when I sent questions. The house had loads of space for nine adults, even when cooking a couple of different meal options per night, and plenty of table space for dining and games.
Steven
The house itself is lovely and the grounds but sadly the house isn't being kept up to standard. Firstly the upstairs shower in the main bedroom leaked through to the kitchen over the cooker and floor, when this was reported to the contact number given Kate she tried to tell us it was just likely condensation however we could now no longer use the shower as it was by the electrics also. Next issue the drain outside by the utility room would not empty at all believe causing the utility room to absolutely stink, there is clearly something going on with the drain. I should also add there were no safety gloves for the wood burning stove, no lighting going to the jacuzzi.
Beautiful house with stunning gardens. Everything was clean, well maintained and decorated to a high standard. The hot tub and gardens were a big hit with all the family. The only issue we had was the attic room which got so hot we had to buy a fan in order to keep a window open we had to also move a cabinet in front to make sure no kids fell out of it. Otherwise we had a lovely family holiday and would definitely recommend it.
Madeleine
Valley House and its extensive grounds are beautiful. So much space for everyone especially outside, perfect for family get togethers. Lots of extras are provided which contribute to making it a memorable stay. Fresh flowers, an exceptional welcome hamper, towelling robes for all for the hot tub, cupboard full of wellies, towels for the dogs, loads of games for the children etc. We have had a fabulous holiday here.
Madeleine
Lovely interesting house. Comfortable and wellequipped. Beautiful garden and the hot tub was lovely
Angela
A perfect week, nothing to dislike. Everything you need is there. Great location, gardens are beautiful and the deer visits were a bonus. A lovely welcome pack. A shame that the bbq is not available until the 1st of May instead of from Easter but only a comment not a criticism. A wonderful holiday had by all ages and very happy dog.
Valley House was great. We were a family group of all ages staying for a 90th birthday celebration. The house was comfortable, clean and well equipped. The garden is huge and a pleasure to explore, the hot tub was a big hit.
Carolyn
Fantastic stay at Valley House for our party of 9 adults and Monty the dog. The house and grounds are lovely and despite it being the end of October we were very lucky with the weather which helped us enjoy the garden, hot tub and surrounding area. Plenty of local walks including the Caen Hill locks and Roundway Hill Covert and a lovey Sunday roast at the Raven Inn. The house is very well equipped, including robes for the hot tub. A few more comfy chairs in the lounge would have been ideal as there were 9 adults so it was a bit of a squeeze. Request to have the attic room made into a double room was dealt with efficiently. Would recommend and hope to return.
Great stay in this amazing house with stunning grounds. Nothing was wanted for and the hot tub was fabulous in the good weather. Plenty of wildlife on the grounds including Deer, Badgers and Foxes. A wonderful peaceful location to relax.
We had a fabulous stay thank you. Amazing house and gardens just perfect for our family gathering we all loved it. Beautiful clean house with a lovely welcome hamper and robes to use when using the hot tub lovely touches. We had everything we needed with a well equipped kitchen and toy room that went down a treat! The only thing we thought could be improved was the amount of seating in the lounge no one wanted to spend the evening sat on a bean bag and if another sofa could be fitted in it would make all the difference.
Nice house but let down by a few things, lounge window broken, this should have been noticed by the cleaner but they had obviously not cleaned the window sill for awhile as it was covered in dead flies. House sleeps 10 but only enough suitable seats in lounge for 34, I would never expect to have to sit on beanbags in the main lounge but thats what you get. There is another sofa in the study which could easily be moved into lounge. Kitchen well equipped but the majority of the plates were chipped and should be thrown away as unhygienic. The bedroom with on suite was nice but there is a full length glass panel between the bedroom and bathroom so no privacy when using the toilet, glass could easily be frosted. The grounds are very large with a stream which the children loved, its a pity that the current owners just cut the lawns as there is evidence of what must have been flower beds but are overgrown with weeds and nettles, there are also numerous fruit trees but dont seem to be cared for. The childs place house in the garden should be removed or replaced as dangerous. We did enjoy the daily visits from the deer to the garden though.
Elaine
This property is truly beautiful. We stayed as a surprise for my husbands 60th Birthday with some special friends and our children. From the time we arrived and pulled up outside the front door we were blown away!!! The house and grounds were wonderful, we didnt want to leave. Thank you for sharing this amazing place. Im sure we will return in the future for more family celebrations.
A wonderful location, the extensive grounds were explored regularly. House very clean and well kept with everything we needed provided. BBQ and hot tub also very welcome. An abundance of wildlife which my Grandchildren loved. I believe my son and daughter in law are going to book again in order for her family to experience this idyllic setting. I would certainly consider another visit, did not want to leave.
Fantastic home where the photos don't do it justice, thank you so much for a wonderful stay!
Hattie
We had an absolutely amazing weekend at Valley House. The house and facilities were even better than expected! It was like a home from home. Very private and had everything you could wish for. We added a few fizz glasses to your collection. The land around the property was amazing for walks and activities. Thanks so much!
Florian
This is a beautiful cottage, well maintained and in a nice location. The owner was very responsive to questions.
Very comfortable and well equipped cottage.
We were a family of 9 with a 85, 10, 6 yr old aswell as a 7 month old baby and 2 small dogs. ..we spent a week here at Christmas. The house is lovely warm and comfortable the grounds around it are amazing to walk the dogs and let the kids go off and explore the garden, stream, wood there is a tree house but needs renovating the kids would have loved that. The hot tub is a bonus plenty of room and set at the right temperature , the only gripe I have is if your taking dogs with you as a owner you are responsible for picking up your dogs mess. There was quite a bit of dog mess in the garden which wasn't any of our dogs as we picked it up as it was done. we had a wonderful Christmas there and wouldn't hesitate in returning in the very near future
Kalpana
Amazing property with gardens. We went for a family get away before my brothers wedding and had a lovely time. The owners were always there ready if we ever needed help. Will definitely like to come back here.
Hayley
Wow, what a property! We came to valley house to spend time together as a family. 5 adults, a teenager, 2 children and the dog. We were welcomed into a warm and well presented home. Every tiny thing had been thought of. The welcome basket was out standing and so very generous. The home was clean and tidy, and felt like a home. We explored the home and the grounds and every one in the party said how beautiful it all was. We found new things to explore each time. We spent evenings In the hot tub watching the stars. The robes to use for the hot tub, what a great idea. The beds we all so comfortable, with lovely duvets and pillows. The rooms large and spacious and well decorated. The garden is well kept and maintained at such a high standard. So many places to visit in the area and every one so kind and welcoming We would love to return very soon. And we highly recommend this holiday home to every one and any one. Thank you for the best holiday.
What a superb place to stay. We couldn't have asked for anywhere better to base ourselves. So comfortable, so many gadgets in the kitchen and the grounds where just stunning. Can't recommend this property highly enough.
Dennis
My wife and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with 8 people consisting of 3 generations of our family ranging from the ages of 5 to 75! It was the perfect venue for all of us with wonderful grounds and House. We stayed for 3 days and never needed to leave the venue. The hot tub was popular! A beautiful setting and can't be faulted.
Richard
This is a wonderful property and perfect for a relaxing holiday with family. The house and ground so were so good, and the weather so hot, we cancelled all our many plans for visiting local sites and we just chilled out in the garden and house. The hot tub was very heavily used and our dogs loved the freedom to wander around alone all day. Actually one inaccuracy in the listing the gardens are enclosed unless your dog can jump a low fence. There were many great touches to the stay robes, really good toiletries, a great welcome basket, dog towels. The house is simply wonderful full of character and with a well equipped kitchen. We've done many holidays like this but this was the best place we've stayed. We cannot recommend Valley House too highly.
Lovely house with nice gardens. Would highly recommend
Maxine
This is a fantastic house to stay in. We had a multi generational trip to cater for and this property fulfilled all our needs. Our group age was from 5 years to 86 years. beautiful house and fantastic grounds helped by the fact that we were very lucky with the weather. Games, jigsaws, toys for the children and of course the wonderful hot tub, kept us all amused. So much so that we really didn't need to leave the house. My 5 years old grand daughter kept saying Mummy please can we get a house like this She loved paddling in the stream that runs through the garden. Everything we needed was provided. My only slight criticism was maybe the double mattresses are a little too firm but that's from personal taste. I would highly recommend this house.
It was my wifes significant birthday so I wanted somewhere special for the family to celebrate it. Couldnt have picked a venue any better that ticked every box. There was nothing that I would have asked for differently so I would give this 5 stars. The little touches make such a difference and there were many of these. Would absolutely recommend this property as a break for any occasion.
Elizabeth
The property was so well equipped for a three generation holiday that when we put our heads together to think of anything that was missing the only thing that we could come up with was egg cups.
Valley House is a stunningly beautiful property with the most magnificent of grounds. We loved the space, the privacy and the luxurious finish of the house. The grounds were so spacious that you could play badminton whilst our little boy explored the trees and the brook at the same time as the rest of our family enjoyed the hot tub. In the words of our little one it was wonderful and it was giant. Parking was plentiful, the location quiet but well connected and the spacious rooms in the house meant that everyone felt they had their own space despite being three generations and a dog! Everything you needed was provided and the setting was so tranquil and private that you really could escape the wider world and just enjoy the house. It was a privilege to stay at Valley House and I hope we are fortunate enough to stay there again in the future.
This was a lovely property and perfect for our family stay. We immediately felt at home the house was comfortable, the grounds were beautiful and the hot tub was well used by us all! We have lots of extended family in the area and were easily able to host a couple of family gettogethers during our stay. The owners were very accommodating and left a very good welcome pack. All in all it was a great week and we would definitely recommend it.
Tristan
The house was absolutely brilliant. It is stocked with some fantastic gadgets that came in very handy, such as an ice maker, and the speakers. The hot tub is lovely to sit in, and be surrounded by the gardens. The grounds are really well kept, and it's so peaceful that you hear the river at the end of the garden. The house was warm, very tidy, and perfect for the weekend. I would recommend to anyone!
