Hambleton House Reviews

We loved it. It was perfect for our group and we loved the outside enclosed area. Castle Donington was lovely & had great pubs with friendly landlords. The only 'negative' feedback some guests had were that a couple of the showers weren't great but that's it. We will prob book same place again re our annual get together
Hambleton house was perfect for our family to gather, from the space inside to the location in Castle Donington with shops, cafes and pubs easily accessible. There was plenty for everyone to do, with the games room and the hot tub. The kitchen was well stocked with all the crockery and baking dishes that we needed, although a larger teapot would have been appreciated!! The rooms were comfortable and cosy and we all slept well. Thanks for a lovely house!!

We found Hambleton House a perfect venue for our family 80th birthday. There were 21 of us and we had a fantastic weekend. Plenty of space for us all, the hot tub facility went down a treat, as did the games room, lots of different areas to sit and chat, the kitchen was a definite thumbs up with us all, ample space in the carpark, we had 2 dogs with us and they enjoyed a lovely countryside walk with their owners of course all in all everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. We would definitely recommend Hambleton House.

Hambleton House is a great place to stay with a larger group of family and friends, it accommodated 22 of us with 4 dogs brilliantly and was good value for money. There are plenty of bedrooms, bathrooms and social spaces to be together or get a bit of time out. The kitchen is well equipped. The big car park was a plus, and there were good nearby walks for the dogs e.g. turn left out of the house and keep walking until you find the airport boundary. The house is close to a range of restaurants and takeaway outlets if you don't want to cook. I marked down facilities and maintenance slightly as some of the furniture is tired though still functional and we had a couple of other problems e.g. a bedroom door code entry handle not working due to flat batteries but the owner was easily contactable and responded quickly. I would like to especially thank Lucy who gave us a friendly welcome us and was incredibly helpful. Overall I would highly recommend a stay at Hambleton House.
Excellent games room, a few more chairs would have been good. Dining table too big for the room could not get 24 chairs around the table, had to bring 6 out of bedroom to fit everyone in and then half the people were trapped until other people let them out. Jacuzzi was well used.

The accommodation is lovely for a family of different ages. The common areas are really good for space and freedom for children with plenty of sitting areas. The kitchen also is a good size and well stocked. The bedrooms are great for a few days stay all en suite. Also the large car park on site is a bonus. The house is walking distance of the local shops with a number of pubs and coffeee places nearby. The whole group enjoyed their stay and we would definitely recommend it. We are hoping to return soon.

This is a great place for a holiday, but don't bring 24 people Castle Donnington is an amazing centre for a holiday. We stayed for a week and didn't do half the things we could have done. The house has comfortable bedrooms and lots of space to do things in the evenings, but it doesn't have room for 24 people to eat dinner comfortably, let alone get themselves breakfast in the morning. The dining room will just squeeze in 16, and the kitchen table is needed to serve the food from. We were 19 and we managed by using the outdoor room that wouldn't work in cold weather or if rain blew in through the slats. You can only contact the owner through Sykes, which means help isn't available outside their working hours. This is seriously unsatisfactory. There were also a number of minor maintenance niggles. If these were fixed, and the owner provided an emergency number, this would be a great place for 16 people or fewer to stay.
The Hambelton House is an excellent cottage to stay in for large groups of people! I booked this with my husband and 22 of our friends to celebrate our marriage. Even with the cottage completely full, there was still lots of space to sit, mingle, and have a good time. The facilities are comfortable and fully equipped. It is also in a great location with a cute high street nearby. The only caveat is that Sykes Cottages is a very unresponsive booking agency. They ignored my requests for help up until 3 days before the booking. They were very responsive when helping me book the venue, and as soon as they took my money they would no longer help. The people I spoke to on the phone were lovely, however often did not actually solve anything for me until just before the check in date. For future stays I would try to see if there is another agency I am able to book the Hambelton House through as it was a great venue and we would love to stay there again!!
We were really happy with the accommodation. It was great to have such a big house with space. With ages from 4 to 74 we all had our own space. The hot tub was a great hit as was the games room. It was nice to have such a big house were you could walk into the shops etc. Would definitely recommend.
Great large property for family stay
Teresa
Fabulous spacious property for a large group. The house is very spacious for a family gathering, huge kitchen, dining room, sitting room and then two bonus areas. A games room with table football, darts & a pool table plus a large TV for watching sport etc. A second covered outside sitting area with lights, heaters and a very large, spotlessly clean jacuzzi. The kitchen is very well stocked with crockery, pans etc to very easy to cook for 20 people, two freezers and fridges plus a drinks fridge. Each bedroom had its own ensuite which ensured we had our own privacy and space. The bathrooms had a combination of showers or some baths, with plenty of towels. We didnt use them, but there is also a TV in each room if someone wanted downtime. As a final bonus large drive for over 10 cars, so no parking charges for the whole weekend.
Very enjoyable stay at Hambleton House. Standards generally high but there were a few things that could have been better. Bedroom 1 neither of the bedside lights worked. Bedroom7 very low water pressure in the shower. Bedrooms 811 radiators not working. Insufficient cutlery for the number of guests. We were told a stairgate would be available but we could not find it. Overall though, a great place to stay for a large group of people

We spent a long weekend at Hambleton House to celebrate my daughters 21st birthday, with ages ranging from 5 to 75. Everyone had a fantastic time. The house was warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived, and all the rooms were clean, tidy and very comfortable. We would happily book again.

Hambleton House was a really good place for us to meet up for our annual gathering of 2 families. Right in the heart of the large village of Castle Donnington, which has quite a few narrow roads, the guaranteed car parking space was a real plus. The property was warm and inviting with a variety of spaces for various combinations of family to gather and share together. We had our 'puzzle' room, our 'reading' room as well the designated games room which many of us enjoyed over the 4 days including the old fashioned Atari Arcade game and there was the hot tub area. The only space that didn't quite work for us collectively was the dining room which we all couldn't get into for a single seating. The kitchen served each of our 'cooks' well with a different one stepping up each night and was a good focal point for our breakfasts as folks descended in their own time. We had great fun allocating bedrooms and everyone was complimentary about the one they were in. There was one room which we felt was musty but we did have 2 rooms to spare with our party so it didn't have to be used. Overall, the feeling was very positive towards Hambleton House from our whole party and we would be more than happy to return to it.
Really good accommodation for large groups. Several separate areas which work well. Great games room and hot tub. Kitchen very well equipped. Bedrooms were all fine. Only a few points Id note no instructions for the cookeroven or dishwasher. Decor a bit datedtired in places. Carpet throughout the upstairs is the same pattern so we tripped several times on steps. No ends in the pool cues. But on the whole wed definitely book again the future.
Richard
We had a wonderful time celebrating my wifes birthday at Hambleton House. The kitchen, games room, dining room and outdoor hot tub were all fantastic and made the stay really special. We did have a small issue with one of the radiators not working, but aside from that everything was excellent and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Several friends of ours have been asking about the property so I have provided links back to this lovely property which I would happily return to.
Gurdeep
This place was amazing. It accommodated us, 10 adults, 7 kids and 1 dog, really well and the location was great too. With plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. We particularly loved the games room and hot tub, not to mention the great parking too! The property was really well presented overall and we had everything we needed to make it a very memorable stay.
