Tilberthwaite Farm Cottage Reviews

Michael
Very good holiday in spite of the rain! in a lovely setting. Cottage comfortable and clean and hot tub a nice bonus! Very dog friendly with walks on the doorstep. Friendly hosts and interesting to see some of the workings of a Lakeland farm
Cosy cottage in a fantastic location with great walks from the doorstep. Would recommend and is our second visit there. Thanks . Sykes are not easy to deal with especially when trying to book an extra night as have to go direct to them , long delays in answering phone calls.
Really nice cottage. Enjoyed the hot tub. Good for walksrunsmountains nearby.

This was our second stay at Tilberthwaite Farm Cottage, it is perfectly located to explore the south western fells. You can walk in some wonderful countryside, in particular the Langdale Valley, from the doorstep. The cottage is cosy and well appointed, more than sufficient for a weeks stay.
We had a lovely, comfortable stay between the Christmas and new year madness. The perfect spot to relax! Beautiful frosty views and walks from the doorstep and just a short drive for others we wanted to do whilst there. The hot tub was a great bonus for the long winter nights tucked away behind the cottage. The cottage was well equipped and and cosy with the Christmas decorations up for our stay. Thankyou
Anneke
Tilberthwaite cottage was a real nostalgia trip for us, remembering my parents who had stayed in the building when it was a farm B&B 50 years ago! Cottage is cute but a bit sparsely equipped eg only 2 teaspoons and lighting downstairs rather stark with old flypaper on ceiling highlighted by it. Beds not the comfiest, especially the two singles. The hot tub seems a discrepancy we didnt use it and not very eco. Great spot for walking from.
This cottage was perfect for us, warm and cosy inside, many walks from the doorstep, and a hot tub to unwind after a day of rambling. The owners couldn't have been better too, they was both really friendly, and was a massive help in our hour of need. Thank you Marie and Stephen it was a pleasure to stay at your place, and we will come back again.

Beautiful location. Comfortable accommodation. Walks from doorstep and hot tub under dark sky to soothe weary feet. Already thinking when can we go again
Stephen
We love this cottage and have spent 3 weeks there this year!
We had a fantastic stay here at Tilberthwaite. Our first time in the Lake District ideal location for exploring many walks and wonders. Highlights of our trip include climbing the old man of Coniston, the copper mines, rydal cave, cathedral cave and slater bridge. Absolutely loved being on a working farm, and so nice to have a soak in the hot tub watching the sheep up on the field! We loved our trips to Ambleside, Windermere, zip world, and loved getting fish and chips at BownessOnWindermere and eating them by the lake! Our dog loved keeping cool jumping in all the rivers. Hosts were fantastic and the children made the most of honesty fridge next door who doesnt love a cornetto for dessert each night!!! The cottage was just right and had everything we needed, including spare dog towels and beds! We would definitely return!
Matthew
Beautiful holiday home, beautiful surroundings, gorgeous family next door. Looking forward to coming back!
Comfortable and very well equipped dog friendly base from which to explore the South Lakes. Lovely little working farm with owners on hand if needed.
Claire
Great place to stay with walks on the doorstep. Very comfortable with everything you need for a lovely holiday. A few things seemed to be missing, no cutlery basket in the dishwasher, no sink drainer rack and as the bath is quite slippery when showering a non slip bath mat .
Michael
Excellent and very friendly atmosphere. The valley is a little bit of heaven.
Richard
5th time back here! Even in some bad weather still beautiful! The kids love watching the farmer and the lambs.

Had a brilliant stay at Tilberthwaite farm cottage,we have stayed in over twenty different types of accommodation in the Lake District over the years, this is one of the best we have stayed in,will be definitely going back. The cottage was spotlessly clean, all the beds were very comfortable, plenty of hot water,a good size bath, with shower. We took our granddaughter with us,she spent every evening after a days walking in the lovely hot tub. What I liked most, there were all splendid walks from the cottage, tarn how,Coniston, torver, little langdale, chapel stile, ellterwater,Bea tarn, the list goes on.Thank you for a great stay,Eddie,Bev,and Lilly

We loved our stay and hope to return. It would have helped us to know from the property details that there is a full sized fridge & freezer as the property is quite remote. The knowledge would have changed our initial provisioning of a 2 week stay. The other improvement is also in the kitchen a couple of decent sharp chopping knives would have made cooking easier. Other than these small details, it was excellent and we recommend it to anyone who wants peace, nature and tranquility. Potential bookers do need to know the cottage is on a working farm and accept that this will mean they will keep farmers hours early starts, but very quiet evenings!
The cottage has a lovely feel, it is cosy and provides everything needed. The large fridge freezer was ideal, we didnt need to go shopping all week. The location is perfect lots of places to visit with beautiful scenery in every direction. Very interesting staying on a busy working farm but still private. The hot tub is a real treat. I would recommend the cottage to anyone who enjoys walking
A really wonderful and comfortable cottage with all the amenities. Perfect location and the added bonus of a hot tub after trekking all day was fantastic. The cottage is well equipped and maintained. We are looking forward to going back again. There are many repeat visitors listed in the guest book that tells you that this place is a great place to stay.
We loved this cottage. Immaculate , wellequipped and lovely friendly hosts. Clear instructions on arrivals and departures. The location is amazing for walkerscyclistsClimbers. Lovely having a washing machine and tumble drier.
Vanessa
Fantastic comfortable cottage, the photos do not do it justice. Much bigger than it looked. With the hot tub an added bonus! The location is amazing with many great walks from the door. Being on a working farm, watching the dogs heard the sheep, the farmer going about his day and seeing the farmers children have the best outdoor upbringing was a delight. Would 100 recommend this cottage.
Love the peace and quiet of this property this is our 4th visit and never disappointed.
Wow a beautiful tucked away hidden gem, in a breathtaking location. We had a lovely 2 night stay here. 2 highlights 1 is being able to access epic walking right from the front door and the 2nd is the hot tub. Completely private at the back of the property and with the most amazing star gazing to be seen! The only build I would say is to maybe provide logs to last the whole first night for guests. You kindly provided some extras for us but with your location, you dont really want to be driving around once there so its not that convenient to drive to the shop which is not that close. It would be great to offer a top up service for a price. Also a couple of extra tea bags to last the weekend only 4 provided would be welcome. But thats only because we were only there for a 2 night stay. Comfy bed, lovely shower. Everything we needed.
Amazing, perfect location, has absolutely everything needed for a peaceful break away. Love love love it and plan to come back next December! Thankyou for having us.
We had a great stay at Tilberthwaite. The cottage was lovely very clean with everything we needed for a quiet family stay in a beautiful spot. Thank you!
Elizabeth
Excellent accomodation but this holiday was chosen because from the information on the website we were led to believe there was an enclosed garden for the dog and this is not the case which could have caused a problem, other than that everything was great including the location.
Nicholas
Lovely cottage with good facilities. Very cosy and comfortable Lovely stay
Rachel
This was a comfortable and well equipped cottage and the hot tub was a blessing after a day of walking, with beautiful views of the Fell. The location was stunning although the road to get there was interesting. Be aware when taking your dog that there is not enclosed area so be aware that there are sheep wondering free by the property. The garden area was not as the photo so a little surprised.
Absolutely stunning location and cottage. The cottage is fully equiped with everything you could possibly need. The hot tub is an added bonus which we took full advantage of in the evenings, it is beautiful seeing all the animals roaming too. I would highly recommend this property it is quite central to most locations, we tried the local pub that is recommended in the welcome book and couldnt agree more, had a lovely meal in the three shires.
The cottage is in a quiet position next to the farm on a well maintained road near footpaths. It is comfortable, charming and pretty with every modern facility including new bathroom, kitchen and efficient heating. Good wifi and Freeview TV. Spacious bedroom with lots of hanging and drawer space. Although the welcome folder had all the basic info with emergency phone numbers etc it was very untidy and should be refreshed. The walking maps were unreadable. 4 adults may find the cottage a bit of a squeeze the second bedroom has a very low sloping ceiling and the layout of the main room, although spacious, does not leave much room for the dining table. It is perfect for couples and families with children.
Jewel in a crown experience!
We loved the cottage and it was perfect for what we wanted. Great position to get to everywhere we wanted, and fab walks on the doorstep. Hot tub a definite bonus after the long walks.
We had a wonderful stay at Tilberthwaite Cottage. We arrived to a warm, clean, and welcoming cottage with a fire ready to be lit. The cottage was great, it had loads of amenities, and we very much enjoyed the hot tub. The local area is full of walks right from the doorstep and you're only a short distance from Coniston where there are shops and pubs. Would definitely recommend, we had a fantastic time, thank you!
Cosy and clean, facilities including the 'hot tub' where excellent. Road to the cottage is narrow and leaving after a night of a bit of snow took care. It was a great break, thanks to the owners.
Lovely cottage in a fantastic location. Clean and well presented on arrival, everything you could need provided in the kitchen. Hot tub a real positive after a day of walking and has great views of the mountains and countryside around.
Doreen
Children loved seeing the sheep they would sit and look out of the window
Robert
Such a wonderful property on a working farm, really lovely people in a really lovely place with all you could need in the property. I really appreciated using the hot tub after being on some long walks, it's a fab place and I'm looking forward to returning. Thank you.
The cottage is very cosy and location is excellent. A lot walking trails right outside the doorstep. The scenery is magnificent and you can just sit on the bench outside the house to see the world go by. Only drawback are extremely poor mobile network and wifi but these havent spoilt our holiday.
Caroline
We loved our stay at the cottage. It has everything that we needed, it was super cosy and the location was perfect. We did an online shop to arrive the day we arrived which was a good idea as there are no big supermarkets nearby but the local shops in Coniston have all the essentials that you need. We would definitely recommend to anyone who loves the countryside, walking and peace and quiet. A fantastic holiday.
