Gwern Borter Manor Reviews

Angela
Publicity stated enclosed rear garden, but this wasnt dog proof. Perhaps this should be made clear. Also the house sign states bed and breakfast, which was misleading to others. We had various people wandering into the garden from other holiday cottages looking for the owner. One lady just walked right into the house! Overall we were happy and maintenance was dealt with promptly, but there were things that should have been addressed before our arrival.

Overall we had a lovely stay at Gwern Borter Manor. The beds were comfortable and the communal spaces large enough for our 3 generational family. The house itself is very old and therefore does have a few maintenance issues. Handles loose, no lock on the downstairs looshower room, plaster falling off the walls on the stairway to the third floor. The kitchen was well equipped but there is only 1 kettle and only a slimline dishwasher. We did have an issue with the state of the non stick frying pans and got in contact with the owner who sent replacements. The hot tubs were great but were not serviced during our stay and though we did get in touch with the owner to request a service which they said should have taken place, no one came, so we were unable to use them for the last couple of days of our holiday, which was a disappointment as they were one of the reasons we booked the property. The area surrounding the property is great to explore with Conwy Castle only a short distance away. The garden is lovely, but as previously said in reviews it is not fully enclosed.
Visited for my Dad's 70th birthday with my family, House was so lovely with all amenities to hand, beds were super comfy, fully stocked kitchen, hot tubs were ready to use and plenty of towels. There were a few tiny things that are just feedback, but it really didn't impact our stay . The enclosed area out the back was not accessible and with us having dogs it would of made it a bit easier as the main garden isn't fully enclosed for wandering pets. Some of the curtains and blinds could do with a little TLC for when you need to open and close them.BUT this didn't impact on us and the house was so lovely and homey, we would definitely visit again.

Fabulous property! ! Great location!! Excellent facilities!!!!
We had a wonderful stay at Gwern Borter Manor. The house and garden were so beautiful, a perfect setting for a celebration with our friends and family. The house had everything we needed, plenty of glasses and crockery, and the hot tubs were a welcome addition! It was in a quiet location, surrounded by trees and peaceful nature. We enjoyed lots of dog walks straight from the door. Before we stayed, the owner made us feel very welcome before we arrived and helped to make everything great about our stay. We would highly recommend to anyone.

We had a brilliant time! Everyone was very comfortable and everything you could think of was catered for. Would 100 stay here again and recommend to others!
Great property, clean, comfy beds, great location. Highly recommend
We had an amazing two night stay in the property. It is very well appointed property and with very comfortable beds. Beautiful gardens and amazing hot tubs! It is also in a stunning part of Wales! My only thing I would flag is a few maintenance things the kitchen sink tap is leeky, a few of the cupboards had loose handles and one of the bathroom showers four poster room didn't work.
Lovely place in a lovely area, only down side was that the dogs couldn't roam in ... Lovely place in a lovely area, only down side was that the dogs couldn't roam in and out to garden as there is no gate,we would of let them roam in and out from the boot room to small area with railings but the was no key for the door, otherwise it was an enjoyable stay
Wonderful house and facilities with everything we needed in the kitchen. The hot tubs were a great success even tho the weather was atrocious.
Claire
We loved this house, it was in a beautiful rural location which was great for exploring despite the awful weather and was within a very close proximity to the gorgeous town of Conwy, which we enjoyed. The house was very spacious and full of character with lots of receptions rooms for people to have quiet time if they wanted. The bedrooms were well made up and very clean. Only very minor feedback would be that a full size dishwasher would have been better as the house is advertised for up to 20 guests so a half size dishwasher is not appropriate for this number of dishes. Also a few more pans of varying sizes would also have come in useful. Lastly, we stayed over Christmas so would have been more magical if the house was made to look a little more festive, as there was just one small rather sad looking tree in the main living room with no other decorations anywhere in the house. This is just a nice to have though, not a necessity and didnt spoil our amazing Christmas. We really did enjoy the house and the area and thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas, so thank you so much for the opportunity to use your beautiful house for our special family get together!!!!!
Absolutely stunning house and location. Very well equipped with great quality and tasteful furnishings. Everyone commented on how comfortable the beds were. Owner lovely and helpful. We absolutely loved our stay and wish it could have been for longer. Will definitely look to book again.
We stayed at Gwern Borter Manor for one week as a group of 20. We had a really lovely time and found it to be spacious enough for all of us. The beds were so comfortable and it was very well equipped with spare towels as a plus. The kitchen was our main hub. It felt very homely and again well equipped with plenty of crockery. Location was perfect for nature walks and short drive to Conwy castle and the coastline, the beautiful village of BetwsYcoed and the waterfalls. We also visited Zip world for some activity. Overall, I would highly recommend it and would happily return.
Gorgeous property, issue with lights first evening but this was resolved next day, 2 showers not working at all, not resolved. Fruit flies everywhere in kitchen & dog poo in garden. House was extremely comfortable, especially the beds. We really enjoyed our stay despite few issues.
We had a fabulous stay at Gwern Borter. It is a beautiful house in a lovely setting and was the perfect location for our family gathering. The kitchen is very well appointed and it was wonderful being able to seat everyone in the dining room.
Rachel
Fabulous stay, with some lovely additional touches such as robes, luxury soap and plenty of fluffy towels. The hot tubs and saunas were fabulous easy to operate with clear instructions, and a warm, friendly welcome was given through the super brochure and a welcome email from the owners. A couple of the showers in two of the rooms were running hot and cold, but that is the only small grumble the house, setting and atmosphere was fantastic and we have made many happy memories as a family! The beds are THE most comfortable I have ever stayed in in my life! I would highly recommend staying at this beautiful home.
Charmaine
Just spent the May bank holiday staying at this house for my 30th birthday, and couldnt ask for a better place to celebrate. The house is very spacious and was not short of cutlery, cups, plates etc. the hot tubs and sauna was perfect, both really clean and situated in the perfect location for friends and family to socialise if they didnt want to go in. The views are stunning, the beds are really comfy and spacious, no complaints from any guests. We finished the weekend sitting round the fire in the living room and it was so cosy! Would definitely stay again and recommended to friends and family who didnt come.
Lovely property in a great location. Very clean & tidy with great space for a large group and plenty of room for everyone. The dining room provided a lovely space for the whole group to sit down together & no shortage of glasses, cutlery or crockery. Great countryside and walks on the doorstep, not far to drive to lovely beaches.
